Is Lucy Jonquil too out there?

I like to pick names that honor family. [name]Annabelle[/name] [name]Rose[/name] honors both my mother, mother-in-law and one of hubby’s grandmas by name meaning and [name]Rose[/name] was the name of hubby’s other grandma. [name]One[/name] of my grandmothers disliked her name, but I found that Jonquils are the birth flower of [name]March[/name] which was the month she was born in. Also it is the flower that reminds me of my other grandma and [name]Jon[/name] is my husband’s middle name.

So [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Jonquil[/name] would have a lot of family meaning to me, but does it sound strange? Is it too out there to use?

Also, we are only having two kids, so I wouldn’t have to worry too much about starting a flower pattern. However I do love the name [name]Iris[/name]!

Thanks for all the help. It is invaluable!

I prefer [name]Beatrix[/name]. For some reason [name]Jonquil[/name] makes me think of Glass Menagerie… A little flouncy for me.

Maybe [name]Daphne[/name] from daffodil?
[name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Daphne[/name] nn [name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Xanthe[/name] (yellow)

[name]Lucy[/name] [name]March[/name] could be really crisp and lovely.

I think middle names are allowed a little more leeway and [name]Jonquil[/name] honors family while also having the floral connection like [name]Annabel[/name]'s middle name. I think it’s a quite nice combo actually. I really like [name]Lucy[/name], but it’s very well-known and [name]Jonquil[/name] spices it up a tad (without being outrageously over the top).

I like it!

I think you should go with it [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Jonquil[/name]! I like how it honors your family.

Another like here : D!

Thanks for the opinions! I think I will keep it as a possible mn. I just need to say it a few more times to see if I could pull it off. My taste tends to run familiar classic.

I’m not fond of [name]Jonquil[/name] in the middle. It just sounds masculine and not feminine, which takes away from the beauty of [name]Lucy[/name]. What about Jonquilla?

I really like [name]Jonquil[/name] It is so pretty, poetic, and feminine. It makes me happy just to hear it. I’m not, on the other hand, fond of the name [name]Lucy[/name].

Nice one. [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Jonquil[/name] is pretty.

I like it. But I think I prefer [name]Lucienne[/name] [name]Jonquil[/name] nn [name]Lucy[/name]. [name]Lucy[/name] is lovely but kinda short compared to [name]Annabelle[/name].

I surprise myself by loving it. It’s sweet, simple, pretty, yet somehow not flouncy.

I really like it! Jonqils are some of my favorite flowers (there aren’t many I don’t like) and I think it pairs nicely with [name]Lucy[/name]. It is a little bit out there but familiar and it is her middle so few would know it anyway. On a side note I am the oldest of two daughters and it is the happiest, easiest dynamic of any I have come across so far.

While I like that it honors family, I feel like [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Jonquil[/name] is short and choppy and almost masculine next to the very feminine [name]Annabelle[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. I think [name]Lucy[/name] is beautiful, but she needs a more flowy, feminine mn to go with [name]Annabelle[/name] [name]Rose[/name], [name]IMO[/name]. I don’t like [name]Beatrix[/name] very much, but I like it better with [name]Lucy[/name], and I feel it pairs better with [name]Annabelle[/name] [name]Rose[/name].

I love the unexpected [name]Jonquil[/name] in the middle!
