Not expecting, just settling a bet with my husband.
We both like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] (not so much [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucilla[/name_f]) for a hypothetical future daughter. But I think it’s too close to our daughter’s name ([name_f]Elise[/name_f]).
What do you think?
I hate to veto any name he’s even slightly into these days. He hates/mocks everything.
I don’t think its too close, they actually make lovely sisters. I can see what you mean with the l and s sounds but I don’t find it a tongue-twister at all. I think its the fact that they don’t start with the same intial that saves it.
On paper I find them different enough…but when I said them together aloud…they kind of run together and feel awkward to say together. But maybe it’s just me.
From your signature I love [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Amy[/name_f] (my name ;))
I know what you mean- how about [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] (LOO-sha or loo-chee-ah)? I also like [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] ([name_f]Audrey[/name_f] with a ‘b’), it sounds soft and beautiful and reminds me of that lovely song by Bread.
@nooshi, [name_m]Joe[/name_m] says, “No way!” to [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], unfortunately. I’m not too into [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u], myself, because it seems more masculine to me.
Thanks, though.
I think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f] would be fine together. They’re close, but still distinct enough in sound and style to be sisters.
I don’t think they are too similar. The “cee” sound at the end of [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and the “lee” sound of [name_f]Elise[/name_f] kind of run together when you say them both out loud (in that order) but I think they are distinct enough in spelling and style. I’d probably get in the habit of saying [name_f]Elise[/name_f] first and then [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. I think they are very sweet together.
I think it’s absolutely fine? [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] don’t share an initial, don’t rhyme, and don’t have the same meaning… why would they be too close? They make a beautiful sibset.
Ok, thanks, everyone! Seems like I am wrong; maybe they aren’t too close. [name_m]How[/name_m] exciting that we both like a name. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] we’ll get to use it someday.
I think it’s a beautiful name, especially when said in the chronological order of your children, like when introducing them to somebody. I think it’s lovely.
