Is Marguerite Rose too long for a double first name?

For a girl in a bilingual English/French speaking family, with the nickname [name_f]Marnie[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_u]Rose[/name_u] or [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] for short for the solely English-speaking relatives since I don’t really like the sound of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. Is it too complicated though? I might go simply for [name_u]Rose[/name_u] as a first name since it is language-versatile, but I love the elegance of [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] as well.

[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] [name_u]Rose[/name_u] is a lovely combination. A beautiful mix of the [name_f]English[/name_f] and [name_u]French[/name_u] languages. It also has many adorable nicknames!
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you want to call her [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] [name_u]Rose[/name_u] all the time? I think that may be complicated. She would probably go by [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], I believe, in school, at work, with her friends and neighbors. In that case, [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] [name_u]Rose[/name_u] is too long, unfortunately. However, that doesn’t mean you need to find another name. You can call her [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] [name_u]Rose[/name_u] and let her decide if she wants to go by [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] [name_u]Rose[/name_u], just [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] or a nickname when she gets older.

I very much like both names! :blossom::rose:

I would also consider Rose-Marguerite, I think it somehow sounds more like a double first name. I get that [name_u]Rose[/name_u] is usually in the second spot with double barrels (eg [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Rose[/name_u] or [name_f]Anna[/name_f] Rose) but because [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] is a more complex name, I wonder if it should be in second spot so it is more likely that both names will be included? And while it might mean [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] nn less likely, you also get [name_u]Romy[/name_u] as an option. (I suspect you’ll more likely get Margot-Rose/Maggie-Rose or just Margot/Maggie or [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] if [name_u]Rose[/name_u] in top spot - more than completely different names in [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] - they’re legit nicknames but seem so far from what you want with these two names?).

Overall, I think they work fine for a double first. Order depends on which you’d be happier for people to occasionally drop (ie only use the one in first spot). I would definitely use a hyphen whichever you choose just because they’re not a well-known pair.

I don’t think it’s too long at all. And there are plenty of nicknames she could choose to go by if she feels that way.

Have you considered [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]? It’s a nickname for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], but sounds like a combo of [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f].

marguerite rose is gorgeous, and i don’t think it’s too long in theory, but to be honest i’d be very surprised if it didn’t get immediately shortened in everyday use. i second the idea of rose-marguerite as it flows a bit better and feels a bit more like a double name. the hyphen also helps.

[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] [name_u]Rose[/name_u] is lovely - I think it could work (I’ve known people with longer names). It’s got plenty of shorter nicknames if she wanted them too

[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] [name_u]Rose[/name_u] is gorgeous! Very elegant! She definitely works. [name_f]My[/name_f] friend actually has a daughter with a double barrel first name that is Margar3t-Rose she’s known as ‘P3ggy-Rose’

It’s not too long but it is double flower which bothers me

As a first name-middle name combination, [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] [name_u]Rose[/name_u] is truly beautiful. However, if you are going to use it as a double barrel first, and call her Marguerite-Rose all the time, to me it’s too long. I would go for [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] [name_u]Rose[/name_u], and then call her Marnie-Rose, Daisy-Rose, Margie-Rose, Rita-Rose, Gertie-Rose…Any nicknames you like from [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] and then paired with [name_u]Rose[/name_u].
