Is Mark Too Dated To Be Used?

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_m]Mark[/name_m], it’s definitely my number 1 boys name, we like it because it’s biblical, but my concern is that it’s too dated to use on a little boy in 2017. I never hear of people naming their sons [name_m]Mark[/name_m] anymore, and I don’t want my son to feel like his name is too dated.

Is [name_m]Mark[/name_m] usable? Or not??

I know Marks of all ages including a six year old, so I say no. If the only Marks I knew were over 40, then yes, but I also have a colleague [name_m]Mark[/name_m] in his twenties who keeps it young for me!

Of course not! I really love classics like [name_m]Mark[/name_m].

I agree that [name_m]Mark[/name_m] is still very “in” without being trendy! If you wanted to venture into something less common, you could try Marks, but I say stick with the classic - you can’t go wrong!

It’s definitely usable. I think it’s pretty timeless.

[name_m]Mark[/name_m] was more popular in previous decades than it is now, but I still feel it sounds more timeless than dated. I think it’s definitely usable for a 2017 baby.

[name_m]Mark[/name_m] is a classic name that won’t go out of style. I think it’s quite usable and a great name!

I think of [name_m]Mark[/name_m] the same way I think of most of the common biblical/saints’ names–[name_m]Luke[/name_m], [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_u]Michael[/name_u], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]–they’re classic, used generation after generation, and I doubt will ever seem “dated.” Go for it!

I actually tend to like names that are slightly dated just for the fact that they’re familiar but not insanely popular ([name_m]Jeremy[/name_m], [name_u]Shane[/name_u], [name_m]Trevor[/name_m]) but I’d say [name_m]Mark[/name_m] is pretty classic and timeless. It’s a great name!

I think all Bible names are timeless. I would love to meet a baby [name_m]Mark[/name_m], go for it!
