I love the name [name_f]Mitzi[/name_f] because of positive personal associations. I know it was in the Top 1000 through the 1950s, but it is still usable? Too much of a “dog name?” Too nickname-y to be taken seriously?
I actually like it.
I know a girl named [name_f]Maritza[/name_f], which is top 1000 and a variation of [name_f]Maria[/name_f] and [name_f]Marisa[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Maritza[/name_f] nn [name_f]Mitzi[/name_f] is lovely, if you want something more relevant. However, [name_f]Mitzi[/name_f] on its own is fine to me.
I’m afraid my only association is with my grandmother’s Pekingese… Cute nn though.
I personally love [name_f]Mitzi[/name_f]. However I would use it as a nickname for a full name. I think pretty much any name beginning with Mi- should work- think [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], [name_f]Millicent[/name_f], [name_f]Miranda[/name_f].
Personally, I think it is too nickname-y… But it is a cute one at that!
What about [name_f]Amity[/name_f], [name_f]Mitra[/name_f] or [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] as a long form? Or even [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]?

[name_f]Every[/name_f] [name_f]Mitzi[/name_f] I know is at least 60 or 70 years old. I would be afraid that my child gets teased but I think that here in [name_f]Austria[/name_f] [name_f]Mitzi[/name_f] is much more associated with old ladies than anywhere else.
I went to a school with a [name_f]Mitzi[/name_f] and I think it’s cute. But only as a nn.
She switched to her given name after hs and only close friends now call her [name_f]Mitzi[/name_f] - she felt it wasn’t work appropriate enough. There are so many AWESOME versions of [name_f]Maria[/name_f] that you could probably find one you love and still use [name_f]Mitzi[/name_f] as a nn. My personal favorites are: [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], [name_f]Moira[/name_f], [name_f]Marita[/name_f], & [name_f]Mairwen[/name_f] but there are so many more to choose form too.
