Is naming twins Jonah and Jonas too much?

So for twin boys, is naming them [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] and [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] just too matchy matchy and too far???

Yes, I think it’s too close. There are many other wonderful names out there that would give them a bit more individuality. As a twin myself, I would have hated if our names were that similar. They do start with the same letter and that I don’t mind, but I’m glad we had very distinct names from each other.

I think using both as first names is way too similar. [name_f]My[/name_f] brother and I have similar nicknames (like [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] and [name_m]Jonas[/name_m], only the last sound is different) and every time my parents called for one of us from another room, we both responded and it was confusing and frustrating. Not to mention that both could want to go by Jo/Joe and that could cause issues.

If you love both names I would use one or both as middle names and give them distinct first names.

It’s a little too matchy for me, unfortunately

yes

Yes.

Alternative ideas:
[name_u]Noah[/name_u] & [name_m]Jonas[/name_m]
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] & [name_u]Joseph[/name_u]
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] & [name_m]Harris[/name_m]
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] & [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] & [name_u]Davis[/name_u]
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] & [name_u]Elias[/name_u]

Definitely too close, sorry!

As others have said, they are too close. However, I’d suggest [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u] or [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] and [name_m]Silas[/name_m] as alternatives!

I think so, yes, unfortunately. They’re lovely names on their own of course! And while in theory they make a lovely sibset, having the names so very similar makes it difficult to allow them to have their own individuality.

I’m not a twin but I imagine as they age the constant lumping together can be frustrating and even having names that close would truly make them feel like one unit rather than two separate kids!!

Yep unfortunately.

[name_m]Way[/name_m] too matchy!

Yes. Using [name_u]Jonah[/name_u], maybe…

[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] and [name_m]Jacob[/name_m]
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] and [name_u]Micah[/name_u]
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] and [name_u]Elijah[/name_u] or [name_u]Elias[/name_u]
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] and [name_u]Judah[/name_u]
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] and [name_u]Julian[/name_u]
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] and [name_u]Ezra[/name_u]
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] and [name_m]Caleb[/name_m]

[name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] and [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] could be used as middle names.

Unfortunately, yes, I believe they’re too close. Having the same first letter is fine imo, but having such similar sounds and only a 1 letter difference is just too much.

I like the ideas of [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u] or [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] and [name_m]Silas[/name_m]! Distinct names with similar sounds!

Yes.

I think they are way too close, sorry

Yes, much too close.

Yes, too close - they’re essentially the same name
