Is Olympia usable?

I’m really starting to like [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]. A while back someone on another forum suggested it to me, and I love the nn options ([name_u]Ollie[/name_u], [name_f]Pia[/name_f], and my favorite, [name_f]Lily[/name_f]-O). I think it fits in well with my other names. But is it too out there? I’m Greek, so it being too Greek isn’t a problem. My problem is I grew up with a weird, out there name, and hated it, so I don’t want to do that to my kid. Is it too weird?
Thanks!

Note, this is a hypothetical baby, I wouldn’t be using it anytime soon, and not during an Olympic year (I guess it would be really corny to use it during an Olympic year, right?).

I think it is definitely usable. Very pretty!

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] is gorgeous. Although, I could imagine her feeling awkward when Olympic years come around eventually. I still wouldn’t let that put you off. It’s a great name that would definitely mesh into your current list.

I heard [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] out in the real world a few months ago. I didn’t actually see the little girl in question but I definitely heard her mum calling it across Primark

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] is usable.

It’s definitely usable! Spunky, obviously a girls’ name but not ultrafeminine, unusual but easy to spell and pronounce. If people can use [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] in spite of [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]'s [name_u]Day[/name_u], and [name_f]Eve[/name_f] in spite of [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_m]New[/name_m] Year’s [name_f]Eve[/name_f], etc., [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] is usable even with the Olympics association. And I don’t see why the Olympics would be a bad connection to make anyway.

I say yes. It’s definitely a greek name that has spread internationally and so will be more readily accepted and recognized. After thinking of [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], Greece, I think of [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], [name_m]Washington[/name_m] – my home state’s capital, so I don’t think I’d be able to use it without friends and family asking if I named my babe after the city – and then the Olympics. I honestly don’t think it’d be too awkward for her during Olympic years, as it’s not a bad connection and a lot of people might not even put the two together.

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] is definitely usable. I’m not generally a fan of really out there names but I’d consider this to be more “unpopular unique” than “too far out there unique”.

I think it’d be fine to use during an Olympic year, as long as the baby wasn’t born DURING the Olympics!

I love the name [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]! I do think it’s usable. It’s really special for me because my family spent a lot of time in [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], [name_m]Washington[/name_m].
I think it’s a beautiful and special name! I too grew up with a (very) uncommon name, but I always get positive reactions. If nothing else, it’s a conversation-starter!

Of course it’s usable!
