Is Opal poised for a come-back?

[name]Just[/name] out of curiosity. [name]Do[/name] you think [name]Opal[/name] is going to re-emerge like its gemstone counterparts, [name]Pearl[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name]? Or do you think it will remain relatively unused despite the popularity of ‘grandma’ names? I am name-crushing on [name]Opal[/name] so I’d like to know your thoughts on its trajectory! Thanks! -K

I only know one [name]Opal[/name] and it’s the stage name of a 30 something, I can’t see it being as big as [name]Ruby[/name] but would expect it to be heading upwards with the general gemstone trend.

Meh. It sounds so closed, it really drops when you say it. And then plus, the well-read of my generation (in terms of fantasy) would associate the name with a villain from [name]Artemis[/name] Fowl. So probably not.

I don’t think it has potential for a [name]Cinderella[/name] [name]Story[/name], but it could make a small comeback.
I love [name]Opal[/name] myself!

I love [name]Opal[/name] too. I only know one in her 30s, but I would love to meet more people with this beautiful name!

I’ve never considered [name]Opal[/name] before, but I’m finding I prefer it over [name]Olive[/name], which is rising in popularity

I really like [name]Opal[/name]. I think it should make a comeback, but who knows if it will. I doubt it would ever be as popular as [name]Ruby[/name] in any case, but it doesn’t sound any more old-fashioned to me than [name]Pearl[/name] does.

I think it’ll become more popular but won’t become as popular as [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Pearl[/name].

It’s not cutesy enough to reach [name]Ruby[/name]'s level of popularity, but I can see it making a small comeback.

I love it! I don’t think it has the appeal of [name]Ruby[/name], but it’s way nicer than [name]Pearl[/name] or [name]Olive[/name] (which I find quite ugly), for my money.
