Is Penelope too childish?

I have seemingly done the impossible.
I have narrowed my list down to 5 names.
One of those names, or rather, nickname- is [name_f]Ellie[/name_f].
Problem is, is that [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] to me is just that, a nickname.

So now I’m on the search for a full name for [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and one name that I’ve come across many times that I’ve always admired from a distance is [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. Such a fun name I feel [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is. I get the feeling of happiness and images of sun rays. I can see why it’s so popular and usually highly popular names would be an automatic no for me but there’s just something about [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] that keeps catching my eye.

My only complaint is that I have gotten comments that [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is too “childish”. That they can see the name on a young child but not an adult with a reputable career. What are your thoughts on this?

Also this is completely optional but if you would like to help me out a bit, if you have any name suggestions that are quirky and have the same or similar vibe as [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] that can also have [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] as a nickname I would truly be appreciative.

[name_m]How[/name_m] could [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] be too childish. With possible nn like [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Nell[/name_f] or [name_u]Penny[/name_u], for everyday use, it leaves the lovely [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] for adult professional use. You like it, you use it.

Yeah, I don’t get how it can be childish. One thing is that a lot of little girls have that name, but it’s a well-established name. It is not too cutesy or anything of that sort. It grows well and I’ve met adult women with that name.

I don’t see [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] as childish at all. And I know this doesn’t help you, but I really like [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] as a full name.

Maybe not quirky, but not your traditional full names for [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]:
[name_f]Eliora[/name_f]
Aviella
[name_f]Arielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] - could maybe work
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is not at all childish. It’s a great name - full of energy as well as class.
