I came across [name]Rosalie[/name] while looking through my old lists and feel like I am loving it again. I think it’s such a pretty name, but my boyfriend says he won’t use the name used in Twilight(oh men).
For real, I think it’s not a first name option for me because of its popularity. But, on the other hand, I think it could work as a middle name perfectly. What do you think? Is it tied to Twilight? (I also love [name]Rosaline/name and [name]Primrose[/name] from similar names. [name]Rosamund[/name] and [name]Rosalind[/name] are also beautiful names but not my favorites.)
Some combinations I am thinking are [name]Winifred[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Glenn[/name], [name]Albina[/name] (al-bee-nuh) [name]Autumn[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] and [name]Gwenore[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Kay[/name].
I love the name [name]Rosalie[/name]. There was a [name]Rosalie[/name] in my life growing up that was almost like a second mother to me. It’s a lovely name. It will definitely rise in the next decade, as the majority of Twilight-readers are still in their teens/early 20’s. I don’t think it’s too connected to Twlight, though. [name]Jacob[/name], [name]Bella[/name], and [name]Edward[/name] - yes. [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Alice[/name], [name]Emmett[/name], [name]Jasper[/name], [name]Esme[/name] - no.
[name]Rosalie[/name] is only too twilight if you also have an [name]Emmett[/name], [name]Jasper[/name] and [name]Jacob[/name] at home.
Honestly, with just one name from the book. [name]Rosalie[/name] is beautiful and especially if it’s chosen as a mn nobody is every going to think “oh well they must love Twilight” that’s just silly.
I particularly like [name]Winifred[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name]. (FYI if [name]Rosalie[/name] is too Twilight wouldn’t [name]Winifred[/name] be too [name]Tuck[/name] Everlasting? I feel like Twilight will fade at some point but doesn’t everyone have to read [name]Tuck[/name] in school?)
Absolutely not! [name]Rosalie[/name] is lovely, and I honestly don’t even think of Twilight anymore. I think [name]Winifred[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] and [name]Gwenore[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] are great! I also really love [name]Primrose[/name] and [name]Rosamund[/name], though–I think those are to die for! I think [name]Winifred[/name] [name]Primrose[/name] and [name]Gwenore[/name] [name]Primrose[/name] would be delightful.
I adore [name]Rosamund[/name], but if it were to become an option for you, I think you need something a bit lighter and airy, if that makes sense, for a fn.
Ditto! I don’t think [name]Rosalie[/name] is too tied to Twilight, and years from now people will probably forget that there was a character named [name]Rosalie[/name]. I wouldn’t let it stop you from using it.
Thank you ladies! And no, I don’t have kids named [name]Jasper[/name], [name]Bella[/name], [name]Edward[/name] or [name]Jacob[/name]
@lexiem: [name]Winifred[/name] has special meaning for us so I don’t doubt this one. Plus I don’t mind any book connection(though my BF doesn’t want a Twilight name). [name]Winnie[/name] from [name]Tuck[/name] is interesting character to share the name with.
I love [name]Rosalie[/name]. And also [name]Rosalia[/name]. I don’t think the twilight thing is a big deal n
I read 3 of the 4 Twilight books before I discovered my intense, burning hatred of the series. And I only saw one of the movies. I didn’t link the name [name]Rosalie[/name] with Twilight at all. Personally, I like the name and think it has a very sweet sound. Twilight won’t remain popular forever, so I wouldn’t worry about it.
My only association with the name is the movie “[name]Win[/name] a Date with [name]Tad[/name] [name]Hamilton[/name]” as I believe the main character’s name is [name]Rosalie[/name].
I’ve heard the name [name]Rosalie[/name] a few times [name]IRL[/name], and while I’ve never read/seen Twilight, I had no idea there was a [name]Rosalie[/name] character (I do know of [name]Bella[/name], [name]Edward[/name], [name]Jacob[/name], [name]Jasper[/name], and [name]Alice[/name]). And quite honestly, it seems like the Twilight craze is mostly over…I’m not sure if you’re expecting now, but I’m fairly certain within the next few years even little Bellas and Edwards won’t be associated with Twilight. I think very few people would make the association.
I don’t think so, but I’m not a huge fan of the name. [name]How[/name] about [name]Coralie[/name] instead?
I read all of the books, went to release parties for the DVD’s, saw all of the movies on the day they came out or at a midnight premier (with the exception of the last two because I had stopped carrying by then), and the female culture of my middle school was ruled by Twilight. There were girls who lost lifelong friends because someone was on team [name]Jacob[/name]. I no longer like the series but despite the large role it played, Twilight is one of the last things that come to mind even with [name]Bella[/name], [name]Jacob[/name], and [name]Edward[/name]. On a less “ranty” note, I really like all of your combos!
I love the name [name]Rosalie[/name]. My husband’s great-Aunt was [name]Rosalie[/name] and it holds special meaning for us. I wouldn’t worry about the Twilight connection. Its a beautiful name!
It might be strongly associated at the moment, but Twilight’s popularity is already on the downhill slide and its pop-cultural relevance will likely be negligible during your child’s lifetime. [name]Rosalie[/name] is such a lovely, classic name and I wouldn’t let a book/movie franchise spoil it.
[name]Rosalie[/name] makes me think of the character from the TV series Grimm. And she kicks some serious butt! It’s spelled [name]Rosalee[/name] there, so maybe consider that? I do prefer [name]Rosalie[/name] but [name]Rosalee[/name] is nice too.
Twilight will be old news in 5 years. I doubt anyone will say “Oh, like Twilight?” especially if you’re using it as a middle.
I have read all of the books multiple times and seen all the movies (when they were super popular), and when I hear [name]Rosalie[/name], my first thought isn’t of the book. It is still on my list just like it was before twilight existed. I don’t think it is linked too much to the book at all! None of the names in the book are too much of a connection unless used together. I wouldn’t use [name]Edward[/name] and [name]Bella[/name] for siblings, but other than that, go for it!!
