I love the name [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], and I’ve decided that I like it more than [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. As of right now (my favourite name seems to change every day, it’s weird) [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] would be the top contender, if I were to have a baby right now, and that baby ended up being a girl. My only issue is, I’m not sure if [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] will go/sound right with the girls names that I like.
I looked through some of the Telegraph’s birth announcements, which go back to 2009. I found a few names on my list in there as sibling names, but I’m not so sure.
I like [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. But in my opinion, [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] sounds better with the girl going as [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]. But [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] does sound good. I have a friend named [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] who’s middle name is [name_f]Vera[/name_f], what about that?
In my girls’ school there’s quite a few Sophies, none of them have it as a nickname for [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] or anything else, it’s their given name. Looking at your list, one [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] has a sister [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and another one has a sister [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. All three names are pretty popular where we live but even if they’re not where you are, they still work fine as sisters.
I love [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]! My great grandmother’s name was [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] and I would love to use it but hubby isn’t on board due to personal associations…
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] & [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] & [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] sound great together, [name_f]IMO[/name_f]
I also think that [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] flows better and it might work better because your daughter can have the choice of [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] or [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. I’m having twins and calling one [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]. I’m gonna start calling her [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] right away so you could always just use [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] as a formal full name but always call her [name_f]Sophie[/name_f].
I do not think [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] is nicknamey at all. Definitely a name that can stand on it’s own. [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]/[name_f]Sofia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]/[name_f]Sofie[/name_f] are both beautiful names. [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]/[name_f]Sofie[/name_f] sounds perfect with so many different names. I can not see you having any trouble naming siblings.
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] definitely works as a name in its own right. In fact, I think it sounds weird as a nn for [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] because it is a name by itself.
I think it works with many of the names you listed, e.g. [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] … actually I think it would work with all of them
I love the name [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]! I know a [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], who pretty much only goes by [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]. Her brother is [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] nn [name_u]Sam[/name_u] and her sister is [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] nn [name_u]Izzy[/name_u]. [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] is, in my opinion, the cuter version of [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. I like both, but I prefer [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]. Maybe if you want a longer name it could be [name_f]Sophronia[/name_f], which I think is really pretty, and use [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] as a nickname.
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] is one of the few “ee” ending names that I don’t find too nicknamey. I’ve known a few Sophies who were just [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] and only one who was a [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. It goes really well with the names you’ve listed above- classy, with history, and rather British.
I personally like [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] better that [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. The A’s run together and that’s a pet peeve of mine.
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] is gorgeous, I love the [name_m]French[/name_m] school girl vibe.
I love [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]. I think it works well with some of your other classic favorites. Some
Other names that I think go are [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] ,[name_f]Emily[/name_f] , [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] , [name_f]Claire[/name_f] , [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] is very pretty. I see it as a full name. I have known a few [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]'s, and they have all suited it as a full name, 2 years old or 15 years old. I couldn’t see them as [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]'s.
Plus, I love the [name_m]French[/name_m]-ness of it. You probably know, I am a sucker for [name_m]French[/name_m] names. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_f]Flavie[/name_f], [name_f]Octavie[/name_f], I could go on and on.
And [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is lovely. All spring-like, lilac coloured flowers, and pretty soft purple dresses with matching berets.
Ahh, you went with my suggestion! I think [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] is great and nicer than [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. It’s more popular in Australia. I definitely don’t think it’s in the category of “nickname names”.
Yes I did! Haha, I know in the UK, [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]'s in with [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Evie[/name_f], etc, and I know Nameberry has an almost like, hatrid for those, so I’m never sure haha.
I think [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] is a perfectly good, solid name. It’s not a nickname-y name. It’s a name on it’s own. I know several [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]'s and 1 [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] (0 [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]'s whose real name is [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]). When i was little, one of my best friend’s name was [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]. No one ever asked if it was short for [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. I hate how [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] has become a nickname. I think it’s a beautiful name.
