[name]Stella[/name] was No 85 out of 1000 baby names in the US in 2010 and it is on the rise. It does go really well with [name]Walsh[/name].
[name]Sacha[/name] (I like this spelling best) does have a little too much of the shh sound with your surname.
[name]Marina[/name] is nice as is [name]Serena[/name], don’t like [name]Celine[/name] with [name]Walsh[/name].
[name]Leila[/name] said as [name]Lee[/name] lah or [name]Lay[/name] lah? Confusing to me with this spelling but I do think it is the classiest spelling, and [name]Leila[/name] [name]Walsh[/name] is nice.
rollo
[name]Sasha[/name] [name]Walsh[/name] is definitely a tongue twister, I’d avoid that one.
If you’re worried about popularity I don’t think [name]Leila[/name] is your best option, I’d say that was the most popular one of the lot.
I’ve not heard of a [name]Stella[/name] under the age of about 30 years old so to me it isn’t popular. It might be one that will catch on soon in the UK but I’m not hearing much hype about it.
[name]Celine[/name] got my vote because of its sweet and soft sound, [name]Celine[/name] [name]Walsh[/name] sounds very classy!
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Walsh[/name] is really cute! Last year there were 3,407 little Stellas born (it ranked number 85), which averaged a little under 70 Stellas per state. I would suggest going to this site (http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/namesbystate.html) to see how popular [name]Stella[/name] is in your state. (Provided you are in the States, haha.) It ranked 85 nationally but in my state it was nearly 10 spots lower at number 93, with 116 little Stellas born. In New [name]York[/name], though, it ranked number 82 (higher than the national level), with 206 little Stellas born. It’ll just depend on your state. Maybe it’s less popular where you are.
I wouldn’t be afraid to use it, though… Compared to the nearly 900 Isabellas in my state, [name]Stella[/name] seems like nothing! She may go to school with another [name]Stella[/name] or have another [name]Stella[/name] in her class, but it really isn’t the end of the world, haha. I have gone to school with many others who share my name, and I’ve actually loved the popularity aspect. I was a shy kid and it helped to know I had a well-loved name. Besides, I’ve talked to parents who have children with less popular names, and they’ll say their child goes to school with a [name]Lily[/name], an [name]Olivia[/name], a [name]Jacob[/name], a [name]Noah[/name], whatever, several popular names, and then there will be two Pierres or whatever, and they’ll be really shocked. You can’t really predict which names will be the ones that get used in your area, so I think it’s just best to go with what you love. And you obviously love [name]Stella[/name].
Good luck!
VERY helpful feedback, thanks guys! So nice not to do this in a vacuum
we’re in a similar spot… stella is lead contender (also my great-grandmother’s name) but a little worried it may be getting too popular! i took a look at names at the 85-ish ranking the year i was born and didn’t feel like there were many multiples growing up… so I think it should be okay. good luck!
I love [name]Stella[/name], and it sounds great with your last name! It’s such a cute name. I hope you pick it
I love [name]Stella[/name] and it does sound great with your last name. I wouldn’t choose [name]Sasha[/name] because of what you said, the sh sound is a lot. [name]Stella[/name] is a winner to me!
I’ve met a couple little Stellas in the past few years, but it’s certainly no [name]Sophia[/name] or [name]Isabella[/name]. It sounds beautiful with your last name, so I’d go for it! I think [name]Leila[/name] feels more popular than [name]Stella[/name] because there are so many variations going on (I have a class with a [name]Leila[/name], [name]Lila[/name], and [name]Lilah[/name]!)
[name]Sasha[/name] [name]Walsh[/name] is a little tongue-twisty.
