Is swimming a good exercise during pregnancy?

Hii ladies, how is everything, I hope that everyone is fine.I am 2 months pregnant and I would like to ask you all a question. I get stressed easily and I would like to do some exercise to relieve my tension. Since I am pregnant I don’t know whether this is a good idea.While surfing online I came across a blog(http://www.ferraripools.com/blog/benefits-of-swimming/benefits-swimming-pregnancy/ )that mentioned some benefits of swimming for pregnant women and I found it pretty interesting but I am not sure whether it is safe enough to try it out.I would love to hear your suggestions.Any advice on this would be great.Thanks…

Yes, swimming is excellent exercise during pregnancy. I’d run any exercise plans by your physician before beginning just to be safe though.

As a general rule, yes, it’s a great option because it is a low impact exercise. At 2 months you should really be able to do most exercises as long as you’re feeling OK but later in your pregnancy it is good to take into consideration your inevitable loss of flexibility/balance/etc.

However, a word of warning: if you end up with pelvic pain you do want to be a bit careful with swimming, especially certain strokes, because the action can exacerbate the condition. I had bad pelvic pain when I was pregnant with my daughter and swimming was off the menu for me. I did an exercise class in water specifically for pregnant women, which helped my condition a lot because water takes the weight off your joints and enables you to do a lot more than you can on land, but I didn’t swim. This was a third trimester issue, though :wink:

As a health field employee who works with joint patients, I can say a resounding yes to swimming. However, the temperature of the pool would be a consideration. Definitely a question for your doctor. Congratulations! :slight_smile:

My midwife, OB and my mother and sisters (a midwife, physiotherapist and a doctor respectively) all recommend swimming! Especially aqua aerobics as the weight of the water gives enough resistance whilst still supporting your body and bump!

Of course it is:) Sport is always good during a pregnancy. But I must admit that in my opinion it isn´t as a healthy nutur. Because of this I not only do my fitness Training on a regular base but changed my nutur completly. I woant the best for my [name_u]Baby[/name_u] (like all mothers ). Not only when I am pregnant but also when it is born. So Isearched the web for web-shops which offer healthy Food for babys. like this
