Is the name Marvel too out there?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there! I recently came across the name [name_u]Marvel[/name_u]! I love it for a girl but is it too much? Yes i am aware of the comics haha…what are your thoughts on the name?

I don’t think so! I love the name [name_u]Marvel[/name_u] for a girl.
I think the comics/movies being so popular makes this name more useable. However, you should be prepared for people to ask if you named them after the comics/movies.

Hmmmm Its cute for sure. It is a bit out there but has a nice sound. I think it would be better without the superhero connection alas.

Sorry, but yes. Not only does it have the comic book association - but it’s also a word name, obviously. Word names can be tough to wear, especially if they don’t have a clear and positive association. [name_u]Marvel[/name_u] - it’s similar in meaning to the word “wonder”, it’s close to being “marvelous”, it just kinda sets itself up, to me, to being considered out there by others and possibly made fun of.

Yes, it is a very unique choice, very adventurous. I wouldn’t be brave enough to use it, but [name_u]Marvel[/name_u] sounds so cool and the meaning is so amazing!

I adore [name_u]Marvel[/name_u]! I would use it in a heartbeat and it’s high on my own list. It is a bit out there but while it has a definite connotation, it has a soft sound. I love it with the nickname [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] but it could also lend itself to [name_f]Mara[/name_f], [name_u]Ari[/name_u], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], or [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] if she wants something tamer.

It is a bit for me but it’s usable. I know a little girl [name_u]Marvel[/name_u], her brother is R@ptor.

I love it! Though my first association is the character from the Hunger Games books, not [name_m]Captain[/name_m] [name_u]Marvel[/name_u]

I do think of superheroes but feels usable. It ranked for several decades in the early 1900s.

Not too out there to me, but I’m not really the person to ask haha. I think it’s a great name!

Yes. :pensive:

No, it is brave, not a safe choice, but I would say if you’re into word names and it’s your style it’s usable.

It would be a brave choice, but very cool at the same time.

I like it personally. [name_u]Marvel[/name_u] Comics rule so its not the worst association, but just the word marvel alone is a really nice.

I quite like it. It shares sounds with the more popular [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] so I think it could work

As a name it is out there, but since it’s a word everyone heard of it at some point. It’s usable.

Truly I love [name_u]Marvel[/name_u] as a name— I think it’s soft and strong and rooted. It’s not far off from [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] or [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]! I would definitely use it if I felt called :,) However, if you’re not a fan of the MCU/marvel superheroes, you may be up against many assumptions!
