I know [name_f]Bella[/name_f], [name_m]Edward[/name_m], and [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] all shot up, but has that hubbub mostly died down? My husband brought up [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] today (nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]) and I don’t hate it at all. SSA has it at 406 for 2012.
Also, this is always pronounced [name_f]Rose[/name_f]-a-lee right? That’s what we both think but he’s concerned about people saying [name_f]Roz[/name_f]-a-lee.
We have a [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] sounds nice. Same vibe.
I’d also take middle suggestions for it. Our last name is kind of long so I’d prefer a short and sweet middle. I’ve had [name_f]Ann[/name_f] in the back of my head after my grandmother but I don’t love [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f].
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] & [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] sound great together. If the association bothers you maybe consider [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u].
I still kinda connect [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] with Twilight, but I’d use it. Names like [name_m]Edward[/name_m], [name_m]Jacob[/name_m], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], etc. I don’t associate with Twilight because they were classics before that. Another option is [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] (rosa-[name_u]LEE[/name_u]-uh).
I wouldn’t connect [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] with Twillight, but I was never really into Twillight. Also, [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] is a more common name, then say [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] which has it’s obvious connections, so I wouldn’t worry about the Twillight connection. All names have connections.
I always pronounce it [name_f]Rose[/name_f]-a-lee and have never heard of anyone pronouncing it differently.
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] is sweet! [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] is nice, I prefer [name_f]Anne[/name_f] with an e though.
[name_f]Bella[/name_f] and [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] were popular before Twilight. [name_m]Edward[/name_m]'s popularity has been virtually unaffected.
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is lovely. I don’t associate it with Twilight. I think these associations would go away if we just stopped mentioning them.
That book series has been over for several years and the movie series ended last year, so it is no longer current and shouldn’t have as strong a hold on those name, most of which were known if not terribly common before the series was published. [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]'s meteoric rise actually happened right before 2005, when the first book was published, so “the Twilight [name_m]Factor[/name_m]” may largely be a coincidence.
I have never connected [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] to Twilight because it’s my grandmother’s name. Yes, it is pronounced “[name_f]Rose[/name_f]-a-lee”; I’ve never heard anyone call her “[name_f]Roz[/name_f]-a-lee”, though my father said their wizened old next-door neighbor would call her “[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]” when he was growing up (she was a quirky old rich lady, from what I’ve heard, so that probably has more to do with that neighbor than the name itself). It’s a beautiful name and it pairs perfectly with [name_f]Clara[/name_f].
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] sound really sweet together.
I pronounce [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] with a soft “s” while I’d pronounce [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] with a sharp “s”.
I’d consider [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] with a short, two syllable middle name ending in “a” ([name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Willa[/name_f], etc.), you have more options and it might be easier to find a name you love.
I don’t asscociate [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] with Twilight (anymore).
I don’t associate [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] with Twilight at all. The only “Twilight” names I immediately think of are [name_f]Bella[/name_f] and [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. And, [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] are perfect together! I pronounce it [name_f]Rose[/name_f]-a-lie.
I love [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] together. I think most of the names from Twilight were well-known enough to begin with that the association has died down somewhat. If you’re worried about it, though, you could go with simply [name_f]Rose[/name_f], or [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Rosetta[/name_f], [name_f]Rosita[/name_f]… tons of options.
I wouldn’t worry about the Twilight thing but I would’ve pronounced it [name_f]Roz[/name_f]-uh-lie.
Well we high fived on it so it’s official.
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]…something. Hubs pointed out that [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] would give her initials of RAK, which we both think might have potential for embarrassment and/or teasing during puberty. We’ll see. I’m 20 weeks today so we’re halfway to a name the same day she’s halfway to being here
Yeah, RAK isn’t the greatest set of initials to have. Would you consider another form of [name_f]Ann[/name_f] to honor your grandmother that doesn’t begin with an A? There aren’t many, but [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] and [name_f]Nanette[/name_f] come to mind.
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Nanette[/name_f]
Other short and sweet middles:
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Bess[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Cora[/name_f] (I know it might be a bit similar to [name_f]Clara[/name_f], though.)
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Emma[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Erin[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Fay[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] (Too botanical for you?)
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Tess[/name_f]
I thought of [name_f]Faye[/name_f]!
I’m partial to [name_f]Mae[/name_f] or [name_f]Paige[/name_f] I think. A friend mentioned [name_f]Elise[/name_f], which I like the sound of, but REK isn’t much better than RAK…might even be worse.
I really like [name_f]Fay[/name_f]/[name_f]Faye[/name_f], personally. It reminds me of [name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_m]Wray[/name_m] and [name_f]Faye[/name_f] Dunaway, who were some seriously beautiful and awesome actresses back in the day. [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is cute, too, although I think it’s getting a little overused as a middle name. [name_f]Paige[/name_f] is kind of 80s to me.
Oh, I forgot [name_u]Skye[/name_u]… I don’t know how, since it’s my daughter’s middle name! [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u]?
My MN is [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], and I can say that I was an early teenager when Twilight was popular. Almost EVERYBODY who found out that my MN was [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] associated it with Twilight But I think the Twilight fad is definitely heading out.
As for pronunciation, my parents always insisted it was ro-ZAY-lee instead of [name_f]RO[/name_f]-suh-lee because otherwise it would have sounded horrid with my first name. So I usually pronounce it as ro-ZAY-lee.
I agree with one of the others that I still kinda associate [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] with twilight but not really bella edward and jacob cause they were big way befote twilight, but [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is a Really cute name and goes well with [name_f]Clara[/name_f] some other possibilites are [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] or [name_f]Genevive[/name_f] if you called her [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] some cute middles could be [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_u]Jean[/name_u], or [name_f]Marie[/name_f]. Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]
is lovely sounding and I’ve never heard anyone mispronounce it.
[name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]? My grandfather is [name_m]Earl[/name_m] so that might be a nice way to honor him.
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] are both family names, while [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is not so I think a family connection would be nice to have. My mom is coming over today so I’m going to pick her brain a bit for old family names.
I would not connect [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] to Twilight. It’s a beautiful classic name. I also love [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] go very well together, if you love name don’t be afraid to use it.
ETA
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is a very pretty combination.
People already suggested [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], which are my favorite combinations.
