Is the world ready for first name Hypatia?

I figure people are using [name]Athena[/name], so why not this awesome namesake? I know most Berries would support it as a mn but how about a first? So far feedback is heck no and that it is too close to “hippo” (which I disagree with…) WDYT?

I knew a [name]Hypatia[/name] in elementary school. She went by the nickname [name]Patty[/name]. I could definitely see it and has such a rich heritage. I’m not sure if it’s on [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name]'s e-book Off the Grid but it should.

Sure, why not? Some people will hate it of course, but who cares what they think? I say if you’re brave enough, go for it. “Out there” names doesn’t be “usable” until someone is brave enough to use it first.

I can’t speak for the world, but I’m certainly ready to meet someone with the first name [name]Hypatia[/name].

I love it!! But…I don’t think I’d use it as a first name…kids have enough to deal with. I’d love to have it as a middle name, though.

[name]Love[/name] it, just as I love [name]Augusta[/name]/[name]Ada[/name] (referencing [name]Augusta[/name] [name]Ada[/name] [name]King[/name]/[name]Byron[/name] - Contess of Lovelace), a great thought to name a girl for an awesome woman. It will likely be met with resistance from people who don’t understand, but haters gonna hate.

Sure, why not? I don’t even think of ‘hippo’ when I hear/read it because it’s pronounced ‘h-eye-pay-sha’.

The world is absolutely ready for [name]Hypatia[/name]!

I would love to come across a child with this name!

Well… I’m not a fan I must admit. Awesome namesake or not, it just doesn’t sit well on my tongue.

But it’s not “weirder” than so many other names we hear today, so why not?!

I agree with everyone else. It’s no weirder than other names out there. You’re actually the 3rd person I’ve met that liked it. My best friend wants to name his first [name]Hypatia[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Adele[/name].

I think it’s lovely, and it has beautiful sounds.

I think it’s usable. I’m pretty sure it’s pronounced hye-pay-sha, which is very nice and not that different from [name]Alicia[/name] and [name]Natasha[/name].

Rebooting this post, because I was thinking about [name_f]Hypatia[/name_f] today and wondering if feelings / thoughts towards it had changed any.

[name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about [name_f]Hypatia[/name_f] in 2020, berries??

I think it’s a cool name and I would be excited to meet one. [name_f]Hypatia[/name_f] of [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] is a great namesake.

I think [name_f]Hypatia[/name_f] is a wonderful choice, and I’d love to hear it in irl. I like everything about it in theory, but unfortunately don’t love the sound. I’d like to be persuaded by hearing it more though!

I’m ready for it! I think it is a beautiful name with so much going for it. The varying pronunciations are just so different from each other that I feel like that is a barrier to use, though not an insurmountable one.

It’s not really my taste, but I think it can definitely be a fn

Is it pronounced as [name_m]Hi[/name_m]-pat-ee-ah or [name_m]Hi[/name_m]-pae-sh-ee-ah or something different? I really like how it looks, though!
