In 3 months Im having my second (and most likely last) baby and its a girl!
We live in Sweden but my partner is from a non European country so the name has to work there as well. A lot more classic-ish english names work. An established name that isnt too common in Sweden would be ideal. Also a good/beautiful meaning is important.
We dont feel for any name on the top 100:
Names we we (or just me) like but ruled out for various reasons:
Olympia
Eleonora
Selah
Gaia
Octavia
Diana
Rumi
Alix
Ismay
Xanthe
Solana
Viva
Vanya/Vanja
Nola
Etta
Signy
Sonia
Amaris
Elizabeth
Our short list right now is:
Elise
Simone
Miranda
Juliette
Juliette is our favourite so far! Only thing is Im not so keen on the meaning of the name, its a bit, well weak.
Is there any names that would be better than the ones on our list? I feel like I have been looling for more names a lot but now I feel stuck! Pls help!
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] is really one of those names many ppl heard but few actually use.
Not in love with the meaning of [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] or [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f]. I do like [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] and might really love a similar name with a ”better” meaning
I love [name_u]Simone[/name_u], and prefer [name_f]Simona[/name_f] just slightly! Names with nice meaning you might like that work internationally:
[name_f]Beata[/name_f] / [name_f]Bea[/name_f]
[name_f]Valentina[/name_f]
[name_f]Evelina[/name_f]
[name_u]Antonia[/name_u] / [name_f]Antonina[/name_f]
[name_f]Aida[/name_f]
[name_f]Dora[/name_f]
[name_f]Sunniva[/name_f]
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Alina[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]
[name_f]Linda[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]
How do you feel about Sunniva? I’m not sure where it sits on the fresh — dated scale in Sweden, but I think it’s utterly gorgeous and the sounds feel very international. And “sun gift” is a pretty fantastic meaning, especially for an end-of-summer baby
Others that spring to mind for you…
Beatrix
Evadne or Evanthe
Mirabel
Vita
Artemis
Odette
Delphine
Isadora
Amoret
[name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] i really like but i have to see what my partner thinks.
I like [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] but suggested a variation of this to a close relative before their baby was born and I havent found out of they used it yet
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is pretty but it is super tied to a holiday here and she would get to hear that a lot i think. But maybe…
[name_f]Linda[/name_f] is super dated here. [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] is very 80/90 to me.
Thank you for your suggestions
I really like [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f]. Its not trendy or dated, its a quite uncommon name
I love [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] but sadly my partner really doesnt
[name_f]Odette[/name_f] and [name_f]Amoret[/name_f] i like. A few ppl might think i named her after Amaretto thou hehe…
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] is so pretty but its exactly how u say Dolphine over here.
We have an English/french [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] which is really easy for everyone on both sides. For me it’s kinda frilly but also has a rock n roll vibe.
We’re due another girl and I’m loving [name_f]Gloria[/name_f].
I like the suggestion of [name_f]Simona[/name_f]. [name_u]Or[/name_u] how about [name_f]Mona[/name_f]?

[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is a cute combo.
I do like [name_f]Mona[/name_f] a lot! Its a bit dated here but I brink it works well on a little girl!

@Xandraswede There’s a little [name_f]Mona[/name_f] at school. I found it surprising to hear it but then annoyed I couldn’t use it as it’s too unusual to copy haha. There’s also names like [name_f]Violette[/name_f], [name_f]Berenice[/name_f] and [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] at school which I found a bit oldy. [name_f]Mona[/name_f] feels fresh to me.
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] and [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] are gorgeous!!
You might like [name_f]Cressida[/name_f], [name_f]Naia[/name_f] or [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Berenice[/name_f] is so cool
[name_f]Violette[/name_f] and [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] is also really nice!
Wish [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] would work over here
[name_u]Simone[/name_u] or [name_f]Simona[/name_f] nicknamed [name_f]Mona[/name_f] is so sweet! One of my favourites.
Other ideas (sorry if they’ve already been mentioned/don’t work in Swedish):
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]
[name_u]Marian[/name_u]
[name_f]Erica[/name_f]
[name_f]Paulina[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
Elise—this is a beautiful name but my least favorite from your (fantastic!) list
Miranda—I’ve always loved this name! I have a fear of it being nicknamed to “Randi” but I think Mira is a sweet nickname
Juliette—this was high on my list (as in one of the few names my husband and I agreed on!) until it was used by a family member. I still love it, but now I actually know several young Juliettes!
Simone—I think this is my favorite, all things considered. It’s just so beautiful without being frilly, plus so many cool namesakes: Simone de Beauvoir, Simone Veil, Nina Simone, Simone Biles… How is it pronounced in Swedish? Is the final “e” silent like in French and English, or does it have an “uh” ending like German?
It does have the german -e ending but in [name_u]Sweden[/name_u] its fine to use an english pronancuation of the name, even it we would have to correct ppl at times. Swedish ppl in general speak english well, we use subtitlies instead of voice over etc.
Since my partner is from a country where english is an official languages its even more ok.
[name_f]Elise[/name_f] is a family name but im the least keen on it of the names on the short list bc I prefer to stay away from another e-name.

We do, kind of, consider [name_u]Marian[/name_u] but spelled [name_f]Marianne[/name_f].
[name_f]Erica[/name_f] and [name_f]Paulina[/name_f] is very 80/90:s here
@Xandraswede [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] is one of my top picks too! [name_u]Strong[/name_u] and feminine, I worry it’s a bit tame though…
