DH and I are TTC baby #2 and are doing a little name dreaming. We are looking for something that goes well with big brother, [name]Cole[/name] [name]Matthew[/name]. We both really like the name [name]Elliott[/name] [name]James[/name], but we have a friend who just had an [name]Elliot[/name] last week and we have a nephew with [name]Elliott[/name] as a middle name. Is that too many Elliotts? Also, I’m afraid we’ll get sick of it before we have a chance to use it. Here is our list thus far. I’ve starred the names we mostly like as middle names, so feel free to mix and match!
[name]Elliott[/name]
[name]James[/name]
[name]William[/name]
[name]George[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name]*
[name]August[/name]
[name]Atticus[/name]*
[name]Titus[/name]*
[name]Oliver[/name]*
[name]Eugene[/name]*
I like [name]Elliott[/name] [name]James[/name] (although [name]James[/name] is a really common “filler middle” but it does have a nice flow!)
Since [name]Elliott[/name] has 3 syllables, I would stick to 1 or 2 in the middle. I like [name]Elliott[/name] [name]George[/name] best, but some others that aren’t on your list that I think sound good with [name]Elliott[/name]:
[name]John[/name]
[name]Jude[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name]
[name]Patrick[/name]
[name]Miles[/name]
[name]Michael[/name]
[name]Mark[/name]
As far as your other dilemma about too many Elliotts, I would say that unless your friend’s [name]Elliott[/name] and your child would spend lots of time together, I think it would be safe. Perhaps ask her opinions. But if you are absolutely in love with [name]Elliott[/name], then I would say little else matters
As for the cousin, I don’t see a problem with using his middle name.
[name]Hope[/name] this helps!
I love [name]Elliot[/name]! If my daughter had been a boy, that would have been her name. I think it goes great with [name]Cole[/name]. I also love these from your list:
[name]George[/name]
[name]James[/name]
[name]William[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]August[/name]
I like [name]Elliott[/name], and if you like it too then go for it!
Combos I like: [name]Elliott[/name] [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Elliott[/name] [name]Eugene[/name], [name]James[/name] [name]Elliott[/name] (and [name]Elliott[/name] [name]James[/name]), [name]Jame[/name] [name]Atticus[/name], [name]James[/name] [name]Eugene[/name], [name]James[/name] [name]Arthur[/name], [name]George[/name] [name]Atticus[/name], [name]James[/name] [name]Oliver[/name], [name]George[/name] [name]Oliver[/name], [name]George[/name] [name]Arthur[/name]?
You might consider that, in addition to other Elliotts, there are a lot of Ellies out there too. At school. when he hears the first two syllables “[name]Elli[/name]-,” he will have to learn to wait to hear the last syllable before he knows whether it’s his name being called.
We loved the name [name]Elliott[/name] and were going to choose it-but we ended up having a girl
Here are some middle name picks:
[name]Elliott[/name] [name]Stephen[/name]
[name]Elliott[/name] [name]Dale[/name]
[name]Elliott[/name] [name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Elliott[/name] [name]George[/name]
[name]Elliott[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]
I like [name]Elliott[/name] but I don’t like it enough to have the 3rd [name]Elliott[/name] in a small circle of friends? IYKWIM.
I like [name]August[/name] and [name]Arthur[/name] a lot off your list. Like, a LOT. [name]August[/name] and [name]Elliott[/name] have similar sounds and [name]August[/name] is a bit more distinctive, I think.
[name]Elliott[/name] also puts me in mind of:
[name]Emmett[/name] - which I love
[name]Everett[/name] - which is all right
As well as other masculine [name]El[/name]- names like [name]Eli[/name], [name]Eleazar[/name], etc. Including [name]Elijah[/name], but [name]Elijah[/name] is the most popular of them and not my favourite.
I think everwaiteing and stripedsocks are right with the number of Elliotts in a small circle of friends + the number of [name]Elli/names in school. [name]William[/name] is also quite popular - I know at least five little boys named [name]William[/name]. [name]Arthur[/name] is good - it’s a name that hasn’t been pulled in to the popular circle. I also like [name]Oliver[/name] on your list. I second stripedsocks suggestions of [name]Emmett[/name] and [name]Everett[/name].
I was also going to suggest [name]Everett[/name]. It sounds a little newer and fresher imo.
[name]Everett[/name] is being added to the list
I’m starting to heavily favor [name]August[/name] and [name]George[/name]. I think [name]Georgie[/name] is such a sweet nn. I’m really liking the flow of [name]August[/name] [name]Elliott[/name].
I love [name]Cole[/name] [name]Matthew[/name]! In my area, [name]Elliot[/name] is also being used for girls. If you really love it, go with it. I do like some of the above suggestions such as [name]Emmett[/name] and [name]Everett[/name]. I like [name]August[/name] too, you could use nn [name]Gus[/name]. Good luck !
I have always really like the name [name]Elliot[/name] (This spelling is my favourite). I don’t think there are too many [name]Elliot[/name]'s because I have only ever met one in my life. [name]Emmett[/name], [name]Ezra[/name], [name]Ethan[/name], [name]Evan[/name], [name]Easton[/name], [name]Ellis[/name], [name]Ewan[/name], [name]Emery[/name], [name]Elijah[/name] and [name]Enzo[/name] could be used instead. [name]Cole[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] is a lovely name!
