@ottilie, I think it’s the -s ending. I love names that end with an s sound. [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_u]Artemis[/name_u], [name_f]Carys[/name_f], and now Aeris. [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] I can’t use though, as a close friend of my husband has a son named [name_u]Artemis[/name_u].
To be fair to the name, it has absolutely nothing to do with [name_f]Eris[/name_f]. IN Greek, [name_f]Eris[/name_f] is pronounced more like eh-rees. Like the name [name_u]Reese[/name_u] but with Eh in front. Aeris is Latin for air. If I’m remembering right from my high school Latin, AE=AY like in say so Aeris would AY-ris not air-is.
If it makes you feel better about [name_f]Eris[/name_f], her mythology and her role in the wedding of Peleus and [name_f]Thetis[/name_f] inspired Sleeping Beauty.
Also, I think [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and Aeris would be marvelous together. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is earthy and Aeris is airy. They both sound magical and mythical.
Thank you! Welsh names are so beautiful, but I have a hard time remembering the rules of pronunciation.
