Is this a REALLY bad idea?

I’ve recently fallen in love with the idea of [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] as a mn for a boy. Is it a REALLY terrible idea? I like that it reminds me of the [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] Mountains, which give it a rugged (and almost cow boyish!) vibe to me. I’m not gutsy enough to use it up front, but apparently it has some history of masculine use, anyway, and I think something like [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] ([name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] [name_m]Jack[/name_m]?) could be really cool.

I obviously wouldn’t use something like [name_u]Avery[/name_u] [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] or [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] [name_u]Sierra[/name_u], but how bad would something like [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] or [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] be?

Thanks, Berries!

I think it’s fine especially in the middle with a masculine first name

I love the idea! Especially given your reasoning behind it. Go for it!!!

I thought of the mountains right before I read the sentence you wrote about it, haha. I think location names like this one work just fine for boys. My only complaint is that the S at the end of [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] runs into the beginning of [name_u]Sierra[/name_u].

I also think it’s fine if you like it. There’s nothing about [name_u]Sierra[/name_u], or -a names generally, that mean they must be used for girls.

I agree that this one has a rugged, cowboyish vibe when used on a boy. It kind of reminds me of [name_u]Sequoia[/name_u], which certainly works for boys.

Another vote that it’s fine! Especially as it’s being used in the middle, plus the fact that the combo [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is incredible. Go for it!

I think its fine as a mn, [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] is handsome!

I would never have thought to use [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] for a boy, but it definitely works. A lot of place names are unisex and it has a strong, rugged vibe. I’d be pleasantly surprised to meet a [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] or a [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] for sure!

I totally agree- it works as a middle for a boy. I especially like [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] [name_m]Jack[/name_m]…if he was ever concerned about teasing, he could tell other kids his middle name is just [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. But I think it sounds handsome, fresh and unexpected

I think it’s fine. Nature names are fair game. The middle name spot is the perfect spot to use one that is especially associated with the opposite gender. I have [name_u]Wren[/name_u] high on my list as a middle for a boy.

Of course I’m saying this, but if you had said [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] I might have felt differently! Some work better than others I guess.

I would not do it, sorry.

I don’t think so. I also have a unisex name that is tied to mountainous nature. I didn’t like it as a kid but as an adult I love it. I think [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] could definitely work on a boy.

I can kind of see it working as a middle name, however I’d steer clear of what are generally feminine names for boys.

I think [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] makes for a fantastic middle name!

I really love it!

I think [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] is fine in the middle spot.

[name_u]Sierra[/name_u] would be a great middle name for a boy, especially when paired with something more down to earth. I also like your reasoning behind it.
