Is this a usable name...?

Hello!

I am looking for a name to go with sister Anasta$ia. I find myself liking other A names, purely by coincidence. I came across [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] and [name_f]Arianwen[/name_f]. I think I am leaning ever so slightly toward [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]. However, I live in the western United States, so I am wondering how unusual it is? I pronounce it “air-ee-ad-nee”. Especially since her sister’s name is more familiar, I wonder if [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] or [name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] is too different? I also like [name_f]Aurore[/name_f] (doesn’t feel like a first name, but don’t like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]), [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] (something just isn’t there for me), [name_f]Athena[/name_f] (again, doesn’t feel like the name), or [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f]/[name_f]Alexandrie[/name_f]/[name_f]Alexandrine[/name_f] ([name_u]Alex[/name_u] names seem overdone? But I would like to call her [name_u]Lex[/name_u]).

Another thing: I want her middle name to have some connection to “rose”. So far, I am considering Rhosyn or [name_f]Rhoswen[/name_f]. I’m not sure I’m in love with either. I don’t like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]. If you have any suggestions for a middle name, it would be appreciated as well.

Help :frowning: which first name do you prefer? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it works in the US? Does it pair well with her sister? Any other suggestions I’m not thinking of (does not have to start with A)?

I’m not the biggest fan of Arianwen and even though it’s not it sounds made up to me. I love Ariadne and it pairs with her sister. Ariadne works in the US, I used to go to school with an Ariadne and she didn’t have any problems. It’s the kind of name people won’t mess up other than on a Starbucks cup.

For combos:
Ariadne Rosamund --I love this one
Ariadne Rosabel
Ariadne Primrose --this has to be my favorite, it’s gorgeous!
Ariadne Rosalia
Ariadne Briar-Rose

And more A names if you want more ideas (my favorites in bold):
Alethea – Athena alternative
Annabella
Adrina
Adeliza --love this one! classic, beautiful and uncommon
Amethyst
Ambrosia
Analia
Angelina
Annika
Antonia
Audra
Aviva
Andromeda

I love [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f], it is such a beautiful name.

[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] would be amazing!

Here are some other ideas:
[name_f]Avalon[/name_f] [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]
[name_f]Arwen[/name_f] [name_f]Rosina[/name_f]
[name_f]Anwen[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
[name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] [name_f]Rosette[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Roslyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Amarantha[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_u]Artemis[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Amadea[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]

Thank you! You are both selling me on [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]

[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]! Adorable! I also didn’t even think about hyphenating, so [name_f]Briar[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f] is an interesting possibility.

[name_f]Arwen[/name_f] and [name_f]Anwen[/name_f] are on my list! They’re definitely in the running. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is so cute.

I think [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] sound lovely, and is totally useable! Not too crazy at all. I second the suggestion of [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] as a middle name - what a precious combination!

[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] is gorgeous (one of my own favourites). She’s got such great zest and mystique, a fantastic warrior-like strength, and is unusual, while still being somewhat familiar. I definitely think it’s usable. She’s fantastic!

I think [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] works well with big sister Anasta$ia and [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] [name_f]Rhoswen[/name_f] would make a lovely, romantic combo.

Other [name_f]Rose[/name_f]-related (in sound/meaning) names that I enjoy that you may also like are Rohese/Rohesia (I’ve been loving this Medieval English one for a while now), [name_f]Rosalba[/name_f], Rozanica, Raisel, [name_f]Rosella[/name_f], Rosabel & Roseliese.

I like [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] and [name_f]Rhoswen[/name_f] they’re not so weird that people won’t be able to get their heads around the name.

I like [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] but the last syllable kinda throws me off. [name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] sounds very much like a smush of [name_f]Ariana[/name_f] and [name_f]Anwen[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Anwen[/name_f] or [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] are much prettier. I love [name_f]Aurore[/name_f]. I also think Rhoswyn/[name_f]Rhoswen[/name_f] is really pretty, but definitely wouldn’t use if the first name ended in “n” as well.

Thank you! Things to keep in mind…

[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] and [name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] are beautiful. Out of the two, [name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] is most different / out there, but even then I think the nicknames of [name_u]Ari[/name_u]/[name_f]Aria[/name_f]/[name_f]Annie[/name_f] can really ground it. [name_f]Addie[/name_f] could also work as another grounding nickname for [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]. I think both names are quite out there, but if you love them then use them, and yhe grounding nicknames can help with ‘negatives’ of an out there name. And I wouldn’t say they’re “too different”, especially [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f].

[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is a forever fresh name, being the classic it is, and I think it fits beautifully with [name_f]Ana[/name_f]$tasia. Some other [name_u]Lex[/name_u] names:

[name_f]Alexandria[/name_f]
[name_f]Alexia[/name_f]
[name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Calixta[/name_f]
[name_f]Elixane[/name_f]

So all still quite unusual if they are not [name_u]Alex[/name_u]- names.

I love the idea of [name_f]Adelina[/name_f] for you, too, considering it has the A- of most of your names and shares slunds with [name_f]Evelina[/name_f].
