Is this a violent name?

wolfgang - i’ve loved this name for very long, however just the word ‘gang’ itself in modern day english usage i’ve not been a fan of, due to the violent connotations. i’m aware that it originates from an old norse word of unrelated meaning to the modern day, but it is still the first thing i see when i read the name now - what do you think of this name ? is this concern valid ?

I very strongly associate [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] with [name_m]Mozart[/name_m] so I’d never have thought of it as violent. Plus I think the most intuitive nn would be Wolf/Wolfie.

I’ve never associated the name with the modern meaning of gang, of this helps.

Not at all violent, I’d say it’s very musical because I think immediately of [name_m]Mozart[/name_m]. I think it’s a usable name, I met one person named [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] years ago.

I’ve never even thought of that, but [name_f]English[/name_f] also isn’t my first language. I don’t think many people would associate [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] with violence.

I’ve never, ever thought of it as a violent name. Honestly, it never occurred to me that ‘gang’ was in it even though it’s literally the second syllable lol

thank you for the replies ! my first association is mozart and the other famous figures also, i was just concerned based on comments about it i have seen on other websites  i was wondering if in a lot of countries it is seen as violent - it is reassuring to know most of you don’t see this connection though ! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I don’t think it sounds violent! It definitely sounds intense, but in a grand, opulent way, not a violent way.

It has a harsh sound I suppose, but I wouldn’t say it’s violent!
