Is this baby girl name too off the wall?

Thanks, Tuitree! ; ) I just hope that no one calls her “[name_f]Coco[/name_f].”

I don’t think it is too out there at all. It has a great sound to it. The meaning to you and your family is most important. I would use it for the significance and meaning

I don’t think of any negative associations when I hear the name. I think it is lovely that there is so much significance behind the name, that being said it is not my cup of tea. It is unique but I prefer unique, familiar but not too common like [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] and [name_f]Cosima[/name_f]

Thanks, Giinkies! [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] is a little too harsh sounding for my liking and there is a huge joke, circulating in my family, regarding the song La [name_f]Paloma[/name_f]. Appreciate your feedback!

I think Colima is lovely, however, I think that unless you live somewhere Spanish-speaking, it’ll be hard to get it spelled/ pronounced correctly.
Coloma is the Catalan form of [name_f]Paloma[/name_f], so that might be a little more intuitive (but maybe not, because it’s Catalan lol). I think [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] is a fantastic suggestion, too.

I don’t see why it would be “out there”. [name_u]London[/name_u] and [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] are common names. The fact it’s the name of a city isn’t a turn off to the name, but the potential colon jokes (which have already begun) are.

I think it would make a beautiful, meaningful, honorific middle name. As a first name, as previous posters have said, I might think of ulcerative colitis. Anyone who hasn’t had GI problems/isn’t in a medical profession might never ever think of it, though, and it is a pretty sound, also reminds me of [name_f]Cosima[/name_f]. I say use it, but really think about which spot you want it in.

I do have to agree with others that it sounds rather medical, but I think the meaning and history behind it are lovely, so if all that doesn’t matter to you, you can still use it happily. Perhaps you could consider it as a middle?

I grew up in a small Midwestern town and I got the pronunciation on the first try. I think it works, it is different but not out there. Plus the family significance is nice. Go for it! =-)

I’m not a fan of the name, perhaps it’s partly because it sounds so similar to colon but it could also be because I know one of the potential meanings includes the word “grandpa [= mountain]”, which I don’t care for in a girls name.

It certainly isn’t horrible, and it has significance!
