I am loving the names [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f] together at the moment so [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]-[name_f]Freya[/name_f]. Is [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]-[name_f]Freya[/name_f] to much hyphenation? Thank you in advance.
I don’t like it. I dislike hyphenated names in general, it’s unnecessary. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Freya[/name_f] is very pretty itselfz
Yes I think it’s too much. But it’s nice as a first name and middle name
I know lots of people with hyphenated names. I met a [name_f]Maria[/name_f]-[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] this week, and she seems to wear it very well. I don’t find [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]-[name_f]Freya[/name_f] too much. Its a sweet name imo.
I don’t think it’s too much. It’s not like the names are particularly long or unusual, so I don’t really see an issue with it.
I don’t think it’s too much, actually. I generally dislike hyphenated names — they tend to strike me as cutesy, overused, and like a misguided effort to pick something “unique” — but I’m thinking more along the lines of [name_f]Lily[/name_f]-[name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]-[name_f]Grace[/name_f], etc. I actually find it quite refreshing to see a hyphenated combo with no [name_f]Mae[/name_f]/[name_f]May[/name_f]/[name_f]Mai[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_u]Rae[/name_u] or any of the other standard elements.
That said, I much prefer [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Freya[/name_f] without the hyphen, as a first and middle name combo.
I’m not a fan of the hyphenated first, and I would say it’s too much. Fantastic as a first-middle combo, though.
I don’t have a problem with hyphenated names, BUT for some reason I just don’t like how it sounds as one name. It sounds too forced together. I definitely like it as [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Freya[/name_f] as first and middle though.
I’m not a big fan of hyphenated first names, it seems a little unnecessary. You could just as easily use [name_f]Freya[/name_f] as a middle name, I even know people who have two middle names.
I think what makes [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]-[name_f]Freya[/name_f] tricky as a double barreled name is how stylistically different they are. While contrast in a hyphenated name isn’t uncommon, this isn’t so much contrast as it is being in two different fields altogether. And when I say it out loud as one name it’s a little choppy and the sounds strains a little. Generally for a double barreled first flow does matter.
That doesn’t mean you couldn’t do it, but I think think these are more commentary as a first and middle than as a first name. Hyphenating these particular names runs the likelihood of folks shortening to just [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].
Thank you guys. While I do like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]-[name_f]Freya[/name_f] I sort of agree that it’s to long to hyphenate.
