Is this middle name OK for Shiloh?

We’re currently 16 weeks pregnant with our first and the name [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] has been on our list for years. I love using names generally unisex or considered for the other sex. So we were considering using the name [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] for our baby, regardless of them being a boy or girl.

My maiden name is [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] so I was thinking of using it as the middle name.

Does [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] (Surname) sound ok for a girl or boy?

I’d automatically assume [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] was a boy. I can see it on a girl though.

I would also assume boy. I have only met a boy named [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u].

I think as [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] has very special meaning to you, it’s a nice idea. [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] would make a lovely, meaningful name for your son or daughter.

I really like [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] and although I see [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] as a girls name I think that [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] works on either gender.

[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] is not a girl’s name, so I would only use it on a boy.

Thank you for your kind words. I know it’s more masculine but if you knew my full name, you’d think I was a male at first too so I think it works

I know of two Shilohs - a 28yo male and a 5yo girl. I know it’s more masculine but if you knew my full name, you’d think I was a male at first too so I think it works

Thank you for your lovely words. Thats it, regardless, the middle name isn’t changing, it’ll only ever be the first name haha. I know it’s more masculine but if you knew my full name, you’d think I was a male at first too so I think it works well.

Thanks sweet

[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] is a unisex name, and although [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] is a males name, [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] will be the middlename regardless (being my maiden name). If you knew my full name, you’d think I was a male at first too so I think that our childs name and my name will work well together being strong unisex names. This has never affected me and I like that I don’t have a girly girl name which seems to be the in thing at the moment.

I like [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] but with [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] it seems too boyish for my taste. I wanted to suggest [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_f]Camellia[/name_f], but it seems like you’re set on using [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_u]Cameron[/name_u].

Whether it would work overall depends somewhat on the surname and how the whole name sounds together, and how [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] sounds with the surname (as for most people, the first and last names are the ones that get used the most). That said, only knowing [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_u]Cameron[/name_u], I think it works - I’d assume a [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] was a boy, but I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that it was a girl’s name either as both names have been used on both genders. [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] is a name I think of as being really “airy” (also on that list: [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]), and I like that [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] grounds it a bit. Plus, it works well since it’s your maiden name.

[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] appears a girls name to me, so even with [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] in the middle it seems feminine
