Is this name off-limits for me?

I have two beautiful daughters. Being the person that I am, I keep a list on here of names that I may want to use in the future for subsequent children.

Lately, I have been crushing on the name [name]Felicity[/name].
…one of my daughters’ names is [name]Kirsten[/name].

Would it be alright to keep [name]Felicity[/name] as a possibility?

If you can tell what my concerns are with using these names, please tell me if it is a deal breaker, and if you cannot, well, good.

I love [name]Felicity[/name]! I understand your concern, but I think it’s okay. I just looked at the American Girl [name]Doll[/name] site a few weeks ago and found they don’t even sell [name]Felicity[/name] anymore (boo!), so I don’t think many (if any) would notice it.

Good luck!

Yeah, nobody would notice, they have way too many new dolls with new names. The only reason I recognize the names is because I have a [name]Kirsten[/name] myself from when I was really little and obsessed with them. [name]Both[/name] are really pretty names, and even if people did recognize the names together, it wouldn’t be horrible.

I understand your concern, it took me a couple of seconds to get it, but I still think they are usable together.

I had no idea why you were concerned until I read the other posts. I never would have connected the names otherwise.

I was obsessed as a kid, which is why I got the association.
I don’t think it’s a deal breaker at all.
[name]Felicity[/name] is one of my favorite names. :). If it really bothers you, it would make a lovely middle name too, but I think that you have every right to use it as a first name, in fact, it’s very cute!

And that’s true Ash! They stopped making the felicity doll years ago. :frowning:

But now you have even less reason to worry. gl!

I had no clue, either :). I think even if I did know, you should go for it. [name]Felicity[/name] is a lovely name and would match wonderfully with your little [name]Kirsten[/name]!

I get the association but I don’t think it will be a problem. As other posters have stated, American Girl stopped making the [name]Felicity[/name] doll, so I don’t think it’ll be an issue.

Actually, I just checked the site and apparently they stopped making the [name]Kirsten[/name] doll as well. sigh That company has really gone downhill since it was bought by Mattel.

It took me reading through the comments to figure out the connection! So it wasn’t an immediate thing, but probably something I would’ve realized eventually.

I used to read the American Girls books, but I wouldn’t have thought of the connection right away, so I think you can absolutely use them in a sibset.

They don’t make [name]Kirsten[/name] anymore either. I doubt many people will put it together.

My friend growing up was obsessed w/ the dolls, so I made the connection, but it wouldn’t stop me from using it. Actually I think the name goes with your girls’ perfectly!!

Personally, if I did manage to make the connection if I met you in public, I would probably just chalk it up as a coincidence. Now if you have a third daughter and name her: [name]Samantha[/name], [name]Addy[/name], [name]Molly[/name] or any of the other dolls, THEN I’d suspect that you named them after the dolls.

I had no idea why the two names would be off limits together until I read through the other posts. I think you’re safe.

I don’t think it’s off limits. I’ m familiar with the American Girl dolls from the catalogues - I don’t hae a daughter and I was already grown up when they came out. so I never bought one. I didn’t make the connection until I saw the other posts.

[name]Felicity[/name] is awesome and you get the nickname [name]Flick[/name].

I don’t think the American Girl thing matters. The names go well together, and they haven’t sold [name]Felicity[/name] for a few years!

Same. But I am Australian.
[name]Felicity[/name] is an awesome name.

I didn’t understand what the issue was until I looked at some of the other posts. So I’m guessing a lot of people will be like me and won’t make the connection. Go for it!

This.

And after realizing, I honestly do not think it’s an issue at all. I see no reason for concern.
