Is this name overused?

[name]Do[/name] you think the name [name]Jack[/name] is overused??? I like this name, but not sure if it is too popular.

I think it’s getting VERY popular. On the other hand, [name]John[/name] nn [name]Jack[/name] is timeless. Whereas, [name]Jackson[/name] and plain [name]Jack[/name] or more trendy for this time period.

[name]Jack[/name] is number one name in UK and gaining quickly in the US as well. It’s a great name tho.

ugh. it’s always been my favourite boys name, i hope not!!!

[name]Jack[/name] is also the number one name in Australia and has been for years. VERY common over here. Top 40 in US - but if you love it use it!

Everyone says it’s popular and a lot of people on here talk about it. But I don’t know one [name]Jack[/name]. I do know one [name]Jackson[/name]. I really don’t think it’s that popular.

I meet a fair number of baby Jacks. But it’s still a nice name.

I dont think it is overused yet. It has the potential to one day be overused. We’ll have to say where it lands in popularity when the new list comes out in [name]May[/name].

[name]Jack[/name] is continuing to grow in popularity. On the SSA list you have to add together the “[name]Jackson[/name]” and “[name]Jack[/name]” numbers to get a better sense of how many children have this name. You can also search in your state (if you live in the US) to see where it ranks there as it may not be as popular in your area as it is elsewhere/as a whole.

Here’s the web address of the SSA site:

YES!!! I know about 10 people with sons named [name]Jack[/name] or [name]Jackson[/name]. If you want a trendy common name, [name]Jack[/name]/[name]Jackson[/name] is very cute, but personally I don’t want my kid being called [name]Jack[/name] #3 in his class.

It’s definitely getting popular. I’ve had 3 students named [name]Jack[/name] in the past 2 years, a 4 year old cousin named [name]Jack[/name], and know several Jacksons.

It’s a great name, but definitely going up.

Extremely popular here in [name]Canada[/name] too. The Kindergarten class I taught last year had 2 [name]Jack[/name], 1 [name]Jackson[/name] and 1 [name]Jaxon[/name].

Yes, very overused! And it seems to be getting more and more popular.
