I have a character named [name]Annie[/name]. She’s 30-years-old, blonde, blue-eyed, fair skin. She’s 5’7" but very petite. She dresses in jeans and t-shirts but presents herself in a neat, tidy way. She loves jean and leather jackets.
She is energetic and boisterous, quick and competitive, determined and self-confident, athletic and has an youthful attitude. She needs to take the lead and likes both mental and physical challenges. She is sometimes impatient and hates inactivity. She was raised by a single father after the death of her mother when she was very young. The one thing her dad taught her was to fear nothing.
Now to my question. Is the surname [name]Fairchild[/name] too much? She is blonde afterall, and being an only child raised by her father did make her a little spoiled. Though she did outgrow her selfish streak fast.
[name]Annie[/name] [name]Fairchild[/name] works fine!
If it was [name]Anastasia[/name] [name]Fairchild[/name] or [name]Andromeda[/name] [name]Fairchild[/name] then yes, too much imo. But it’s just [name]Annie[/name], so it’s totally workable.
Another Fair- name is [name]Fairfax[/name] which means “blond”.
[name]Both[/name] are 2 in the syllable department.
[name]Kodiak[/name], [name]Travis[/name], Beaudry, [name]Pierce[/name], Zobell, and Hawkins are the other surnames in the novel. [name]Fairfax[/name] would work with them too. The whole fax thing reminds me of FedEx…speed, getting things done…just like this character. But, the child thing relates to the character in the sense that she had to grow up fast.
i think maybe you should hyphonate it so maybe
[name]Annie[/name] Faire-Child
[name]Annie[/name] Fair-Child
[name]Annie[/name] Fair-Fax
[name]Annie[/name] - Faire-Fax
because to me it just seems incredibly smooshed together and not a real name
