I think [name]Kate[/name] is a really pretty and classic name. I do not think it is boring at all.
I really like [name]Kate[/name] by itself as a middle name only. As a first name it feels a bit incomplete, but it doesn’t have that cutesy factor like [name]Maggie[/name] or [name]Maddie[/name] which scream nickname to me. I could see it as a stand alone.
I like [name]Kate[/name], it is common but pretty.
I didn’t vote, because while I don’t [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Kate[/name], I do quite like it. I honestly wouldn’t use it on its own, but that’s only because I adore [name]Catherine[/name] so much. I think [name]Kate[/name] is refreshing, sweet, timeless, a bit quirky, but still sort of laid back, if that makes sense. I have only ever really met two Kates, and neither are what I would expect a [name]Kate[/name] to be like, and that’s what makes [name]Kate[/name] so great, I think–it’s so versatile, and it really can work so well for so many different kinds of people!
I would use [name]Kate[/name] as a nickname for [name]Katherine[/name] personally, but I have known two just Kates - one goes by [name]Kate[/name] and the other by [name]Katie[/name]. I know more just Katies/Katys and I find [name]Kate[/name] nn [name]Katie[/name] a much better option. It’s such a versatile name, that’s why it’s brilliant.
I rather like just [name]Kate[/name]. My only concern would be if she would spend her whole life saying, “no, it’s not short for [name]Katelyn[/name], [name]Katherine[/name], etc. [name]Just[/name] [name]Kate[/name].” That would drive me INSANE! Maybe it doesn’t bother you, but it might bother your daughter. I would definitely go with [name]Katherine[/name], nn [name]Kate[/name]. I know Katherines who have ALWAYS gone by [name]Kate[/name]… [name]Katherine[/name] is just the name on the paperwork.
Far too common for me to like, but I think it makes a nice nickname. I agree that a [name]Kate[/name] would be forever correcting people who called her [name]Katherine[/name] etc.
I have never actually met a [name]Kate[/name]. All the Katherines/Catherines I know go by [name]Kathy[/name]/[name]Cathy[/name]. [name]Kate[/name] as a nickname or as a stand alone sounds fresh and lovely to me.
I love [name]Kate[/name]. It is sweet, feminine, and really versatile.
I love it BUT would only use it as a middle name myself, because it is too common. But I love it just on it’s own as a mn for something longer and more romantic.
I love [name]Kate[/name]. It’s simple but sweet, quirky and feminine in one. I don’t see it as a plain name and I do not think it needs a full name.
It’s pretty. Sort of common where I am from but [name]Katie[/name] is more common then [name]Kate[/name]…It’s still a nice name though.
I love the name [name]Kate[/name], as a first and a middle, and also [name]Cate[/name], which I’m planning to use as a nickname (for my currently imaginary children that is) - it’s simple and sweet, like you say. Good luck!
I prefer it either as a nn for [name]Catherine[/name] or in the middle spot to give a more spunky vibe to a vintage name (eg. [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Kate[/name], [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Kate[/name]). I don’t find it boring or common.
I prefer the spelling [name]Cate[/name]/[name]Cait[/name], and I also prefer it ad a middle name. But I like it because its cute, simple and classic.
As a first name, I do think [name]Kate[/name] is too plain. As a middle I love it.
I love [name]Katherine[/name], but wouldn’t use it except as a middle name because it’s become a bit common. I’m not as crazy about [name]Kate[/name], but it’s the same thing, middle name only. I have several [name]Katherine[/name] variants in my family and among my friends so I’d never use either as a first.
It’s one of my best friend’s names! I’ve got it as a middle for [name]Nora[/name] [name]Kate[/name].
My thought as well. I don’t love it but I voted that I love it because it most closely resembled my opinions.
