I’ve been loving the name [name_u]Langley[/name_u] recently and I have it on my lists. However I’m concerned about whether this name is actually usable? Is it too masculine or too unusual?
btw I’m still a teenager so I won’t be actually naming a child in a very long time (do you see this as a good name choice in the future?)
I love the name [name_u]Langley[/name_u]! The only thing is I don’t know what a good nickname would be… I don’t like Lan/Lang at all. Very pretty name for girls and boys.
By the way, I’m still a teenager too
I don’t care for this name, I’m sorry. It’s hard to say, and I think it’s the perfect combination of “lanky” and “gangling”, which mean almost the same thing!
I find it it be a masculine name - I can’t picture it on a girl. It’s not a bad name at all, just one that I think lends itself best to Team [name_u]Blue[/name_u].
I think it would be a good choice maybe for a middle name and then use it as nn instead, I think it has a nn of it’s own, or you could use [name_u]Lane[/name_u] as the middle name and Langey as the nn
I find it very masculine, too, same with [name_m]Langston[/name_m] (with which you have the added burden/instant awesome factor of a namesake in the shape of African-American poet [name_m]Langston[/name_m] [name_m]Hughes[/name_m]). I think the surname feel and the ‘g’ in the middle give it a particularly boyish feel . . . whereas something like Lynley, for example, would be a perfectly legitimate surname that wouldn’t just feel like a surname. (It also sounds quite feminine, perhaps because of the “[name_u]Lyn[/name_u]”.)
Nicknames for [name_u]Langley[/name_u] (which I am attempting having just censoriously dismissed the name altogether ;;;)):
You could probably get away with something like [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] or [name_u]Angel[/name_u] as well if you really wanted to. Wondering about Glee . . . I can’t quite see it working as a nickname, but maybe I’d change my mind if I met someone who was called that . . . ? Not sure.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] that’s given you some food for thought.
