[name]Hi[/name] there!! I was watching “The Talk” today and [name]Emmy[/name] Rossum was a guest. I got to thinking, Rossum is actually kind of cool sounding…yay or nay? Any input is great!
I could get behind it as a nn for [name]Ross[/name] or [name]Roscoe[/name] but unless it’s a family name I think it’s too weird to just use. It’s a cute sound, but also immediately rhymes with possum : D.
I was thinking it sounded too much like rosin (like the stuff you use to wax bows). I agree with jesba. Unless it’s a family name, I think it would be weird.

Rossum is incredibly adorable, but unless you have a strong personal connection to [name]Emmy[/name] Rossum (which, I think, a lot of people will assume if you use the name) or Rossum is an important family name, I wouldn’t use it. It is a really cute idea, though! Maybe you could use [name]Ross[/name] [name]Callum[/name] and call him “Rossum” as a cute nn?

Maybe as a middle name? It’s not terrible, but I don’t really like it. I like the name [name]Ross[/name] though (it’s my fiance’s name, hehe). He gets a lot of random nns (things added to the end like [name]Rossy[/name], Rosstifer, etc) so maybe it could be a nn?

Not really into it either. I see Possum or R-awesome (which is more fun, but still not quite what I would want for a name). I like plain [name]Ross[/name] much better. If I met a child named Rossum, I would assume it was a family name (and be a bit surprised if I found out it wasn’t).
i don’t really like it, but then again i can’t think of any name i like that ends i -en.
