Is this the final nail in the coffin?

So one of my favorite girls names of all time is the name [name_u]Bristol[/name_u]. I was and am aware of the [name_u]Bristol[/name_u] [name_u]Palin[/name_u] association but I had come to the conclusion that whilst she is a bad person that her relevance was significantly waning and by the time I have babies in 10-20 years she’ll have little to no relevance and the association will basically be gone from the cultural zeitgeist. However this week it has been announced that [name_u]Bristol[/name_u] will be joining Teen mom OG next season. Does this mean that the association will get stronger making it unusable or is it still safe?

Honestly I have never heard of her and the only association I have with that name is the place. I would say it’s safe but it does depend where you live, some places and some circles will obviously have a stronger association to her than others but I don’t think she’ll have much of an impact

I don’t think it’s ever been usable as a first name since she became famous. If you still really really want to use it, put it in the middle

I’m in the same boat as @kizzy_delgado…never heard of [name_u]Bristol[/name_u] [name_u]Palin[/name_u] before so my only association with the name is [name_u]Bristol[/name_u] city

My first and foremost association is the city. I know of her, but I hadn’t heard of her in years. Honestly, I think most people won’t have a clue who you’re talking about.

[name_u]Bristol[/name_u] [name_u]Palin[/name_u] is irrelevant, that’s why she’s going on Teen Mom. And despite the various Teen Moms seemingly saturating social media, I don’t think they’re actually that well known outside of the 12-24 demographic.

In other words, use the name if you really want to.

Honestly I don’t think of her at all when I hear the name, I just think of the place. I like the name [name_u]Bristol[/name_u] a lot and I think you should definitely use it, it’s a pretty and unusual name. I’m surprised it’s not more popular. If the Palins have become so irrelevant that they have to go on Teen Mom to stay in the limelight (yikes), I think it’s safe to say everyone will forget about them in 20 years!

If it helps, I’m American and I genuinely can’t even picture [name_u]Bristol[/name_u] [name_u]Palin[/name_u] in my mind at all so I think you’re safe :).

I don’t know anyone who watches teen mom- is that a thing that may be over or irrelevant once you are actually at babyhaving age?

If [name_u]Bristol[/name_u] [name_u]Palin[/name_u] doesn’t kill the name for you, you should be safe! I think she was named for [name_u]Bristol[/name_u] [name_u]Bay[/name_u] which is a beautiful reference regardless of the actual person. My first association however is [name_u]Bristol[/name_u], the city in the UK and the birthplace of TripHop (I’m a 90s kid). I think it makes a great name.

You’re fine with [name_u]Bristol[/name_u] [name_f]IMO[/name_f]! [name_u]Bristol[/name_u] [name_u]Palin[/name_u] is not really very memorable, and nor is Teen Moms something I think many people pay much attention to. [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_u]Palin[/name_u] was the one who really got a bit of mockery.

I know of her mother ([name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_u]Palin[/name_u]), and vaguely remember her daughter being [name_u]Bristol[/name_u], but I would need prompting, and even then I don’t know anything about her. Especially being in the UK, I think of the place first.

One of my good friends has a Brystol and she said she’s never gotten comments. Their social circle is more into motorsports, so they have a lot of people reference [name_u]Bristol[/name_u] Motor Speedway, not the [name_u]Palin[/name_u] daughter. I think that whole family has long outlived their 15 minutes. I wouldn’t worry about it.

My four year old plays soccer with a [name_u]Bristol[/name_u], and the name wears beautifully on a real little girl. I agree that public figures can make you rethink your name choices, but in this case I think the people you and your children will spend time with (other parents and other children) won’t be as aware of a reality star on a cable show marketed to the 18-24 demographic. Choose the name you love!

[name_u]Bristol[/name_u] is a place, and as a name, quite unattractive, in my opinion. The [name_u]Palin[/name_u] association solidified that for me.
