@[name]Garnet[/name] - [name]Don[/name]'t worry about it I thought it might be too much. I’m just in love with [name]Anthea[/name] and the NN [name]Annie[/name] so I was trying to figure something out. I do like [name]Elisa[/name] [name]Rose[/name] but [name]Elisa[/name] seems too harsh for a litte girls name.
I also also think [name]Elise[/name] is the nicest of the 3 you proposed. Very sweet. Could you consider [name]Rosemarie[/name] [name]Elise[/name] (I’m assuming [name]Marie[/name] is not your ln)? Or [name]Anthea[/name] [name]Elise[/name]?
I’m not sure if I an interpreting this correctly, but the name would be [name]Anthea[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] [name]Alice[/name] [name]Marie[/name] Surname, right? If that is the case, I do think it is far too much name. I would try to simplify it to [name]Anthea[/name] [name]Rosemary[/name], [name]Anthea[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] [name]Marie[/name], [name]Anthea[/name] [name]Alice[/name] [name]Rose[/name], etc. I actually think [name]Anthea[/name] [name]Alice[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is my favorite combo because it honours everyone you wanted ([name]MIL[/name] and yourself, your mother and grandmother) Plus, it has a very pretty flow to it. That combo only works if you drop [name]Marie[/name], so if [name]Marie[/name] is non-negociable I would go with [name]Anthea[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Marie[/name] or [name]Anthea[/name] [name]Rosemary[/name].
I do think that’s a little too much name. I love the name [name]Alice[/name] and was going to vote for that, but pp made me think of [name]Elisia[/name] [name]Rose[/name], which also sounds beautiful.
Could you do [name]Elisia[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] [name]Anthea[/name]? Or [name]Anthea[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] [name]Alice[/name]? A hyphenated first name and one middle name doesn’t seem like too much to me, especially given that many many people give their children two middle names. [name]Just[/name] depends what your traditions are/what you like.
What about [name]Annelise[/name] [name]Rose[/name]? (or [name]Anneliese[/name]) You can still use the nickname [name]Annie[/name] and it’s got both [name]Elise[/name] and [name]Rose[/name] in it. There’s also [name]Anthea[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name], with [name]Rosalie[/name] being a kind of smush between [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Alice[/name].
I’m confused–I can’t tell if you are deciding between 1 MN (e.g [name]Anthea[/name] [name]Rose[/name]) 2 MNs ([name]Anthea[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Elise[/name]) or 3 MNs ([name]Anthea[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Elise[/name] [name]Marie[/name]). I think the 1 OR 2 MNs are fine but 3 is pushing it.
I really don’t find [name]Anthea[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] to be too much name for someone. After all, most people are just known as their first names in most settings right? Many people have double barrelled first names so that’s not a huge deal at all.
Alot of people have 2 mn’s too so use what you like. I personally like [name]Anthea[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] with just one mn though.
[name]Anthea[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] [name]Elise[/name] is my favorite.
It’s a lot of name but given that all of the names are important to you I think it can work. I don’t like the idea of hyphenating her fn if you aren’t intending to call her by both, I think it is confusing and lengthens the name that she will have to write everyday. I prefer [name]Alice[/name] of the choices to honor you [name]MIL[/name] b/c it’s the name she actually has and I think it is the prettiest of the choices. It also matches the old fashioned [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Marie[/name] better than the other two. I think that you should combine two of the mns into one to make it shorter on all of her paperwork. I’m not sure from your responses (I looked at the previous poll) if it is possible to combine [name]Marie[/name] with something or if that would somehow interfere with the tradition of [name]Marie[/name] being the third mn. I would go with:
[name]Anthea[/name] [name]Alice[/name] [name]RoseMarie[/name] (if [name]Marie[/name] in combination is acceptable)
or
[name]Anthea[/name] AliceRose [name]Marie[/name] (if [name]Marie[/name] needs to stand alone)
@Amandachristine - [name]Marie[/name] is unnegotiable. I am starting to like the idea of [name]Rosemary[/name] but I don’t know if it’s sticking with the tradition or not.
@[name]Pansy[/name] - [name]Annelise[/name] is a great idea but it sounds like it’s missing something. I am liking [name]Anthea[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] more and more but I still can’t get past the rhyming of [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Marie[/name] although [name]Marie[/name] won’t be used all that much and someone before this said she didn’t mind.
@Vanessasarah - Sorry for the confusion. It would be First name -[name]Anthea[/name]-[name]Rose[/name], First middle either [name]Clarice[/name], [name]Elise[/name], or [name]Alice[/name] and then the second middle of [name]Marie[/name]
@[name]Nix[/name] - We would call her [name]Annie[/name] [name]Rose[/name] so both names would definitely be used. I would like to keep [name]Marie[/name] seperate just because I think combining it wouldn’t follow the tradition but I will definitely keep it in mind as well as [name]Rosemary[/name]. Thank you.
I thought I would let you know my cousin’s name is [name]Taylor[/name] [name]Courtney[/name] [name]Katharine[/name] Dreyling- or was,I think shes married now, So now it’s [name]Taylor[/name] [name]Courtney[/name] [name]Katharine[/name] MarriedLastName. And her sister was [name]Sydney[/name] something something [name]Chen[/name]-[name]Lu[/name]- both of them were adopted and my aunt and uncle decided to keep [name]Sydney[/name]'s Chinese name and just add it on to the name they had picked out.
If the names have meaning for you, use them.
But What if you have more children? Are you going to give future siblings as long of a name? Or will you run out of special family names before you are done having kids?
I have two boys, [name]Isaiah[/name] Gaberiel [name]Joseph[/name] and [name]Zachariah[/name] [name]Xavier[/name] [name]Joseph[/name], so long names are definitely not a big deal in our family. The boys do not honor anyone and we’re not really big into honoring people but I really want to pass down [name]Rose[/name] and my [name]MIL[/name] meant everything to my husband so I felt compelled to honor her in some way. As far as future daughters I really like the name [name]Calista[/name] which has a mash-up of [name]Alice[/name] in it as well as [name]Althea[/name] with has the [name]AL[/name].
ETA: We only want three but I have backups in case there are other plans for our family.
I really like [name]Calista[/name]- And I think I understand, you want [name]Rose[/name] or some variant to honor your lineage with you mom, you etc. And some variant of [name]Alice[/name] for your DH [name]MIL[/name] and [name]Marie[/name] is the non negotiable second middle name, and if possible the “thea” from your husband’s [name]Matthew[/name].
With that in mind-
[name]Anthea[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] [name]Calista[/name] [name]Marie[/name] NN [name]Annie[/name]-[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Calista[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] [name]Anthea[/name]/[name]Althea[/name] [name]Marie[/name] NN [name]Callie[/name]-[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Althea[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Marie[/name]-NN [name]Thea[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
Ulitimatly, she will most likely end up being called by a nickname and she might have a few issues with paperwork, but nothing that other people with a lot of letters in their three names have not dealt with ie “[name]Christopher[/name] [name]Kensington[/name] [name]Washington[/name]” or “[name]Dominique[/name] [name]Alexandria[/name] Happeninger” I made those up BTW- even people with three names can have a lot of letters…
I say go for what you want and like!! More power to you!
LOL. Great thinking on the fly. Obviously I have three names and they are only on my birth certificate and social security card that’s it. I don’t even think I used marie when I enlisted in the army. LOL I’ll probably stick with 3 names instead of four and try to evenly disperse the honoring between the three and see how that works out. If not then I’ll go to four.
