[name]Robert[/name] is a traditional and classic boys name and [name]Natalie[/name] is a “new classic” so I don’t think there should be an issue. I don’t automatically think of this tragic story when I hear the two names together. In fact, if you hadn’t mentioned it in your post, I wouldn’t have thought of it. These names are used enough that most people wouldn’t make the connection.
Is you last name [name]Wood[/name] or [name]Wagner[/name]? That would be the only thing that might make me pause, and even then, it’s still a very minimal connection.
I am sure no one will make that association.
I voted no, but for me personally, I wouldn’t be able to go through with it because it would just “bug” me. Sure no one will probably know the connection unless it was like the #1 news story of the century, but it would just annoy me to know that I knew and then used the name… does that make sense? lol
So if you aren’t like me and let little things bug you, then I think it’s fine.
I voted yes because I couldn’t do it. They aren’t that “old time” of a celebrity couple really. Plus just over the past few months it has been all over the news because there was new evidence found (a witness I think) that implicates him in the drowning death.
It was a big news story when [name]Natalie[/name] [name]Wood[/name] died (1981) and it’s still a big news story now when there is new info on it. That is enough for it to bother me.
That being said if it wouldn’t bother you to know all of that and to have people figure it out and mention it on their own… then use the name.
My mother was going to name me [name]Natalie[/name] until the nurse pointed out that our last name was [name]Wood[/name]. I have considered it for the daughter we are expecting now. It’s a lovely name.
[name]Don[/name]'t worry about it…but like PP said, if it nags at you, then you might want to avoid it. Personally, I wouldn’t think it should matter. They are both common names anyway.
I wouldn’t think of that story at all. If you love the name use it, but you know yourself best and if it’s going to continue to bother you, then don’t.
Almost any combination of common names are going to have something connected with them somewhere in history. I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s not current news–no [name]Brad[/name] and [name]Angelina[/name]. And it’s not well known enough to really raise eyebrows–[name]Romeo[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name].
The names [name]Robert[/name] and [name]Natalie[/name] are common enough that I wouldn’t make an association. I think most people would react similarly. So no worries!
Like everyone else has said, the names are both fairly ‘typical and common’ so they shouldn’t be a problem. I wouldn’t think anything of it, if I met a sibset that was [name]Natalie[/name] and [name]Robert[/name]. [name]William[/name] & [name]Kate[/name] or [name]Brad[/name] & [name]Angelina[/name] are laughable but I don’t see anything wrong with [name]Robert[/name] & [name]Natalie[/name]! [name]Lovely[/name] names, by the way.
I would never ever have thought of that if you hadn’t mentioned it. I wouldn’t be worried about that connection at all.
[name]Natalie[/name] [name]Wood[/name] is my strongest association with the name [name]Natalie[/name], but I didn’t even know her husband’s name. They’re both pretty normal, classic sorts of names, so I wouldn’t worry about it - but only you know if it will bug you.
This exactly. I wouldn’t worry about it otherwise. [name]Both[/name] [name]Robert[/name] and [name]Natalie[/name] are common enough names that it shouldn’t be an issue.
Are you in the U.S.? If yes, then I wouldn’t use it. Most people wouldn’t automatically make the association, but everyone knows who [name]Natalie[/name] [name]Wood[/name] was and who [name]Robert[/name] [name]Wagner[/name] is. They’re not really an old-time couple (unless you’re very, very young). We’re talking the late 70s, early 80s and they were/are quite famous.
Well, I think most people (over 25 at least) know the story of [name]Natalie[/name] [name]Wood[/name] and [name]Robert[/name] [name]Wagner[/name]. I don’t think having kids named [name]Natalie[/name] and [name]Robert[/name] is a big deal. When I read [name]Natalie[/name] and [name]Robert[/name], before I’d even read through your post, I immediately thought of the [name]Wood[/name]/[name]Wagner[/name] association, so be prepared for that to happen sometimes. But I don’t think it should be a deal breaker for your name choices.
[name]Robert[/name] and [name]Natalie[/name] go great together. I don’t think it is much of an issue. Go for it!
Thanks everyone!!! I’m still liking it, in 27 from the US … Lol … I’m unsure of it makes me uncomfortable, just was getting a consensus, I guess her original name was [name]Natasha[/name], so kinda makes me feel a little more comfortable…
