Is this totally crazy?

I completely fell in love with the name [name]Booker[/name] overnight. Is it crazy?

It’s one of those names that I always thought was interesting but too surnamey, too teaseworthy, and too out-there, but the more I think about it, the more usable it seems! Maybe it’s because I have grown up a bookworm, or maybe it’s because I just saw it used on a TV show last week (The Finder), or maybe it’s because I think [name]Booker[/name] T. [name]Washington[/name] is a great namesake. WDYT? Usable? [name]Do[/name] you think it’s less usable for a very white kid?

Thanks, ladies!

I think it has a bit of a geeky charm to it that I’m a sucker for  I do think it’s kind of charming. I say it has potential!

Super Cute!

I don’t see any reason why it can’t be great. I know, it’s like whenever you find a great name, you’re like ‘why isn’t this super popular, is there something wrong with it?’ I don’t think it’s crazy at all, [name]Booker[/name] T. [name]Washington[/name] is a perfectly reasonable person to name a child after. On a white kid? I would use it myself, for sure, and I’m white

Personally I think it’s really silly sounding as a name… it just doesn’t sound attractive at all to me. Plus all I think of is the big black wrestler [name]Booker[/name] T.

edit: Plus when I say it aloud… all I hear is “booger” now!

I knew one once, he was normal. I think its a name that could be taken seriously, it sounds familiar and yet you hardly hear of it. If i hadnt already known one i would consider it a favorite of mine.

haha, that’s exactly how I feel! [name]Booker[/name] just seems so cool, and I love NB’s description of it… I was a writing student in college, and I’m an aspiring novelist, and I’ll likely get a job in PR/editing/publishing, so [name]Booker[/name] just seems fitting! I do think it has a bit of teasing potential (booger, as [name]Lexi[/name] mentioned, and possibly something like “book her” although it doesn’t seem terribly teaseworthy), but not terrible.

What would you expect [name]Booker[/name]'s brothers to be? Most of my favorites are quite surnamey, but are more mainstream than [name]Booker[/name] is, I think. Could [name]Everett[/name] and [name]Booker[/name] be brothers? [name]Caleb[/name] and [name]Booker[/name]? [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Booker[/name]?

I think [name]Booker[/name] is cute! It’s definitely nms, but I can see it’s appeal. It does sound a little Booger-y, but depending on your region that could be less of a problem. I think quite a few names could go well with [name]Booker[/name] because it sounds intellectual opening up geek chic names or philosophical namesakes, classic allowing for traditional or aged names, and it’s a surname so it can go with any of those.

What she said  I think booger would definitely come up, but it really isn’t a bad nn. I call my son booger sometimes and it was the nn for one of my college roommates (from her last name Burger). My nick name in school was Nit [name]Whit[/name] or Whitless  Never bothered me at all.

I love it! [name]Booker[/name] is so charming and I use be obsessed with the short form Booke in high school.

What a cute name!! I usually don’t go for surnamey names, but this is seriously adorable. I imagine a ‘bookish’ type and I think it’s pretty universal…I wouldn’t have any expectations race-wise if I heard the name.

Edited for privacy.

[name]Love[/name] it! I watched the Finder too (great episode:) I think it’s usable as a raised white kid, I would use it. That being said my best friend (black) would be more likely to.

I love it! It’s charming and handsome, and would definitely age nicely. It would work for a serious kind of person, or on a quirky person. [name]Booker[/name] and [name]Everett[/name] sound fantastic together!

Hm, never really considered it before now, but it could definitely work! Surnames seem to be quite popular these days, so why not use [name]Booker[/name]? It is definitely unique and sounds very nice.

I like [name]Booker[/name]. I went to a BTW high school so it’s always been on my radar. I think [name]Booker[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name] or [name]Booker[/name] and [name]Jasper[/name] sound like brothers.

I think [name]Booker[/name] is really cute in a studious way. I’d say definitely usable.
