I love [name_f]Violet[/name_f] but still struggling with a middle name. I love [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u] to honor my grandpa (Vernon Ray), but it was pointed out that is like Ultraviolet Ray…. Does that make it unusable?
[name_f]My[/name_f] middle name is [name_f]Ann[/name_f] so I also thought of [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f], although I would prefer to honor my grandpa and like the sound of [name_u]Ray[/name_u] better.
Also thought of combining them and doing [name_f]Violet[/name_f] Rayann.
I didn’t think of ultraviolet ray myself! I think it helps that [name_u]Rae[/name_u] / [name_u]Ray[/name_u] is a very heard-of middle name for girls (I know several with it), so [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u] is just fine. What a great honor and a pretty name

@Bailey.ann I think it’s a beautiful name and a great way to honor your grandfather! I’d like to do something similar for my grandparents in the future, and I didn’t even think ultraviolet ray until you mentioned it. Personally, I prefer [name_u]Ray[/name_u] to Rayann, but do whatever makes you happiest! If you want to use [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u] (or [name_u]Rae[/name_u] if you are hesitant about the spelling), go for it. Whether you choose [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u], [name_u]Rae[/name_u], Rayann, or [name_f]Ann[/name_f], the name will be meaningful to you and that’s what matters most. It’s a beautiful name and I really don’t think you can go wrong!
I think it’s fine as a middle. Most people wouldn’t call/even know her middle name. I would hesitate of [name_u]Ray[/name_u] was the last name… although like others have said-

Completely usable for all of them! I wasn’t even close to thinking about Ultraviolet rays and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u] is my favorite of those!

[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u] is a pretty combo and yes, to some they may think of ultraviolet ray but I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. I do love [name_f]Violet[/name_f] Rayann as well, it has a lovely sound and I love that it blends his middle name and your middle name. Maybe a middle name that has [name_u]Ray[/name_u] in it -

I covered the rest of your post with my hand after I read the first and middle name, to see if I could see any issues with it without other input. I couldn’t think of a single thing and was surprised about the ultraviolent ray thing.
I don’t think it would be much of an issue at all! There are tons of other names that have much worse connotations.
I wouldn’t change the middle name but, aside from Rayann, [name_u]Rayne[/name_u] came to mind. [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Rayna[/name_f]. [name_f]Raylynn[/name_f].
The reference to ultraviolet rays did not occur to me until you explained it that way so in my opinion that isn’t something you will need to worry about.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u] sounds beautiful! The nod to your grandfather is heart melting and I like the way you are thinking of doing it. [name_m]Just[/name_m] me personally but I have always thought of [name_u]Ray[/name_u] as leaning more toward the boy side and [name_u]Rey[/name_u] as leaning more towards the girls (although they sound the same). Also I think [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Rey[/name_u] looks even better on paper than [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u] but of course you should go with what calls out to you. As for [name_f]Violet[/name_f] Rayann… the way Rayann sounds is exceptionally pretty but the way it looks is a little off. I recommend using it but sticking a hyphen in the middle so it appears to be a double middle name. I would even go with [name_f]Violet[/name_f] Rey-Ann

have you ever read the book All the [name_u]Bright[/name_u] Places? MCs name is [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_m]Markey[/name_m] and other MC calls her Ultraviolet Remarkey-able, which I always found so fun and adorable.
don’t think this will be a problem and it’s a beautiful sentiment to honor your grandpa!
