This is my first thread in the boys’ forum. I’m not expecting, just ttc. So… last night I dreamt that I’d just had a baby boy, and for some reason he wasn’t allowed to come home from the hospital with me until I’d chosen a name. But the only names I could remember (dreamland is strange, right?) were [name_u]Robin[/name_u] and [name_m]Blade[/name_m]… if you could call [name_m]Blade[/name_m] a name. I tried to pick [name_u]Robin[/name_u], but no one would let me call him [name_u]Robin[/name_u] for some reason… and I ended up bringing home my baby boy named [name_m]Blade[/name_m].
Is there any way this name would be acceptable? I’m inclined to think not, but my dream baby was very beautiful so now I feel a bit endeared to it!
As someone who dreams about names quite a bit, I’ve learned to not take them all so super seriously. I dreamed of the name Aiola a few nights ago, which literally means “garlic.” So even though in my dream it was a great girls name, that doesn’t mean anything for real life
Now, I think [name_m]Blade[/name_m] is already in use as a boys name, although [name_u]Blaze[/name_u]/[name_u]Blaise[/name_u] might be more common still. But I personally wouldn’t want to use it - just not a happy meaning really.
Sorry, but I don’t think [name_m]Blade[/name_m] is the best name for a baby boy. It’s one of those hyper-masculine, sounds-cool-now-but-not-on-a-resume names. Besides, you might dream of another name you like
If [name_m]Blade[/name_m] sticks with you, then I like the PP’s suggestion of the similar [name_u]Blaise[/name_u]!
Your dream is very beautiful and fascinating. It DOES mean something. Im going to message you, so check your inbox.
And no, don’t name your son [name_m]Blade[/name_m]. Lol But [name_f]DO[/name_f] hold on to that dream!
It is definitely used as a name, but I have to agree with pps that it’s not the nicest or most flexible name out there.
Looking at your signature too, it seems like a million miles from your normal style. If you want more kids, that’s definitely something to think about if you care about whether their names “go” reasonably well together. Can you imagine a sibset of [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] and… [name_m]Blade[/name_m]?
