I am fine with it as a family-honoring middle!
PS as long as first name is not [name]Thomas[/name] : D.
I love the idea of Train in theory, but if I met a little boy with the mn Train, I would think he was a fan of the band. It is a really cool idea, and MNs aren’t used that often. I would like to say it is usable but I’m not really sure. If it was just the mode of transportation I wouldn’t have a problem. While I like a lot of the band’s music, I wouldn’t want people to think I was such a die-hard fan that I named my son after them, haha.
Good luck!
I think it’s very usable as a middle name. Although, I think you would have to severely limit your first name choices.
Its a little weird…but if its a family name its ok…
I think it would be a cute MN and I am a real sucker for family names
I think its cool! At first I thought this post was going to be about honoring the band Train lol so I am glad its not that! I don’t know how well it could work as a FN but as an MN it could be cool!
I could be wrong, but I don’t think that band is like, the most widely known band ever, or going to be well known forever. I don’t think they’re the Beatles : D. You never know though.
I get that feedback about a name I love, [name]Jonas[/name], because of the [name]Jonas[/name] Brothers. I’m inclined not to worry too much, but, you know, it is out there…
Well, I don’t think Train is the biggest band ever, either, lol, but they still are fairly well known. And as for the [name]Jonas[/name] Brothers, they’re really not a band anymore, haha, so I don’t think the musical concerns are still there. I used to worry about that, but that was at the height of their popularity. I think anyone could really use [name]Jonas[/name] without worrying about the teeny-boppers.
I’ve never heard of Train, so I have no problems here. I think it’s a little strange, but look at the names on my signature, who am I to judge?
I’m of the opinion that anything really could go in the middle. The middle doesn’t get used often and since it’s a family name and not just something like “I love Trains/the band Train and I want to name my son that” then I’m okay with it!
I always think that the middle spot is a great place for quirky family names like Train. I don’t know the group so that association is lost on me. We have parents choosing [name]Zane[/name], [name]Shane[/name], [name]Dane[/name], [name]Lane[/name], [name]Raine[/name], [name]Cain[/name]/[name]Kane[/name] etc… for first names so Train would be quite usable as a mn in my opinion.
Thanks for all the feedback!
The band actually hadn’t crossed my mind, and whilst I am a fan, I certainly wouldn’t want people to think I named a child after them! I’m still unsure.
My first thought was the band. I’ve heard their songs (though I’m not a huge fan). While I get it’s a family name it seems a little like giving your kid the middle name Bus or Car. The majority of the people I know would give someone so much crap for having a middle name like Train (family name or not); My middle name’s [name]Regina[/name] and I have an ex-boyfriend (and a few friends) who gave me crap about it because it was such an “old lady” name (funny enough his middle name was [name]Eldon[/name]…Yeah.). Personally, I can’t imagine being very appreciative to my parents for giving me a middle name like that even if it was honoring family.
I love it! [name]How[/name] wonderful that you have an excuse to use it!
I think it’s doable. Pair with a longer first name though.
I love family surnames in the first or middle spot, so therefore I love Train for you! It’s quirky and I don’t see it as being much different than any other noun name. I would use it.
I would love it as a first name!
Since it’s a family name and it’s in the middle, I think it’s perfectly fine to use! I’ve heard of the band, but I don’t think I would have thought of them if no one else had mentioned them in the comments.
I think it’s fun, but you’ll have to be careful with a first name, and not use something that is “train related”, or transportation related, like [name]Carson[/name]. Would you switch it up a lot and go with a train related middle name, or do you want to stick with the actual name Train?
