Is Veda and Luke TOO star wars?!!?

So my husband and I love the name [name_f]Veda[/name_f]…pronounced Vay-dah (like in My Girl). We have always loved it. However, we have a son named [name_m]Luke[/name_m]. Is it too weird? [name_m]Will[/name_m] people automatically think we are crazy [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars fans? (which we are not)

We have a [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], [name_u]Delaney[/name_u] and [name_m]Luke[/name_m] now and are pregnant with our fourth (a little girl).

What are you thoughts? Should we completely nix it?

I love [name_f]Veda[/name_f]. It’s one of my all time favorites. I think it fits in with your children’s names. The boys are more classic inspired names but delaney goes well with [name_f]Veda[/name_f] [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. I also like the spelling vada.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars movie, but I don’t remember a [name_f]Veda[/name_f]. I think it’s fine to have a [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and a [name_f]Veda[/name_f]. [name_f]Veda[/name_f] is very pretty! If it bothers you though, what do you think of [name_f]Via[/name_f]? I like it as an unexpected nickname for [name_f]Olivia[/name_f].

I had trouble making the connection at first, but I am assuming you think it is too close to Vader. I was thinking as well, “There is no [name_f]Veda[/name_f] in [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars.” My husband is absolutely a fan, and even after all that, I didn’t make the connection. I like the name [name_f]Veda[/name_f], and I think this spelling is best if you want to avoid a Vader connection.

Yea, I wouldn’t make the connection.
Maybe if they were your only two children, or you had another boy named Han I could see it being a problem.
[name_f]Veda[/name_f] is super cute, and I think you can use it without worrying about any [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars link

I did make the connection when I saw the thread title, but I am a [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars fan. I think if you just had a [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and a [name_f]Veda[/name_f] it might be too much, but since you have two other kids as well, it dilutes the association. [name_f]Veda[/name_f] is really pretty, i think you should go for it.

I didn’t make the connection until someone pointed it out. I think, especially considering you also have two other kids, it’s fine.

I made the connection immediately. I think it is OK, not great, but basically fine. Still, if it was a tie between [name_f]Veda[/name_f] and another name, it would be enough to break the tie for me.

I wouldnt immediately connect [name_f]Veda[/name_f] with [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars… and we are literally watching [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars Episode V in my house right now! I think since you have older kids with non [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars names it reduces the connection, you should go for it, [name_f]Veda[/name_f] is a great name.

I also thought of Darth Vadar- but have not heard the name [name_f]Veda[/name_f] before. I’m not sure I would have immediately made the connection if you hadn’t pointed it out. However if [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and [name_f]Veda[/name_f] are close in age and at the same school, other children might point out the connection.

It is a cute name though!

[name_m]Luke[/name_m] and the similarity between [name_f]Veda[/name_f]/Darth Vadar are only a minor irritant. I love the name [name_f]Veda[/name_f] and even though it has a feminine “a” at the end of it, it sounds strong. I studied the four Vedas of the Hindi religion in a high school comparative religion class. I wouldn’t hesitate to use the name - [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars be damned!

I thought ‘My Girl’ before I saw your son’s name. Thought it initially afterwards, as well. I think it could work. I actually know a [name_m]Le[/name_m]@h [name_u]Skye[/name_u] with the last name of W@lker. (Not done because of the movie, but they liked [name_m]Le[/name_m]@h and [name_u]Skye[/name_u] is after an aunt.) Now that definitely makes me think of [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars!
