I’ve recently decided that my favourite two combos are [name_f]Verity[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. While I don’t think [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is too pretentious, several people have said [name_f]Verity[/name_f] is. While I love the name, I don’t want important people in the future (cough cough college admissions officers) having their first impression of her be pretentious simply because of her name! Any help?
I don’t think [name_f]Verity[/name_f] is pretentious (and I don’t think it matters too much if it is), but this is coming from someone with [name_m]Ptolemy[/name_m] and [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] on their list. Anyway, I think it’s a great name, and I knew one who was very lovely, and I don’t see why employers etc. would hold [name_f]Verity[/name_f] aganist her. I’d say go for it!
I don’t think it’s too pretentious at all! It’s not really my style but I think it’s a beautiful name. I really like the combo [name_f]Verity[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f].
[name_f]Verity[/name_f] is not at all pretentious; it’s lovely.
Pretentious names are names that try too hard for the sake of trying too hard, like Glorianalina.
I don’t think it’s pretentious. I wouldn’t describe it as common but it’s certainly not unheard-of either, at least in the UK. I’ve met a couple of women and girls named [name_f]Verity[/name_f], and there’s also the Poldark character.
No they’re both lovely names and are a perfect sib set. I’d hang tight onto both names.

[name_f]Imo[/name_f], yes, but some of my choices probably may seem so to others too. So that isn’t to say don’t use it.
Thank you all for your help! I think my concerns mainly stemmed from the fact that my family is all about classic names, such as [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], and have names like that too, so any name that is a bit more unusual is seen as trying to hard! I’m going to stick with [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Verity[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
