After searching for interesting surnames, I fell in love with [name_m]Wolfhart[/name_m] as a middle name (partially because I’d love to get to the nickname Wolfie). The first thing I did was search for it in the NB forums, only to find it mentioned more than once in the game of bad names thread and other various folks saying they dislike it/would never use it.
Does [name_m]Wolfhart[/name_m] have a reputation of being awful? I feel like I’ve completely missed the memo!
(Right about now I’m really missing the comments section on individual name pages)
What do you think of [name_m]Wolfhart[/name_m]? As always, I’d love your brutally honest opinions.
I’m starting to like [name_m]Wolfhart[/name_m]! I think it has a very gallant and fantasy-esque feeling to it. It’s also not as heavy and dated as other [name_u]Wolf[/name_u]- names
I’m a fan of [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] so I think [name_m]Wolfhart[/name_m] is like it’s soft hearted twin brother, definitely consider it a useable name! To keep it short I like it!
I don’t care for [name_m]Wolfhart[/name_m]. [name_u]Van[/name_u] Halen named his son [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] with the nickname “Wolfie.” Not particularly my style but it definitely feels very heavy metal to me. I think it could be more modernized If you simply went with [name_u]Wolf[/name_u] and then used the NN Wolfie.
Definitely has a fantasy werewolf vibe. Im guessing thats where the hate is coming from. It walks the line between too cool and too silly, at least where I live.
All the [name_u]Wolf[/name_u] names are old man names in [name_u]Germany[/name_u] . Personally I like [name_m]Wolfram[/name_m] best and it’s definitely a middle name only name!
I think it’s cool, though the fantasy werewolf vibe is strong. I can totally see it being the last name of a werewolf character in a paranormal romance book. I’m not sure how versatile it would be on a real person. I like [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m], but it is also rather out-there (where I live, at least).
I think [name_m]Wolfhart[/name_m] is very beautiful in theory, but it seems a bit heavy for real life. I don’t think this name has a reputation of being awful. I actually hadn’t heard it before. I think people just choose uncommon names in that game because those seem ‘weird’ or ‘too out there’ to them.
This seems to be an overwhelming opinion! I’d usually be in full agreement, and [name_u]Wolf[/name_u] on it’s own has been one of my (if not the) top middle names for boys for many years. But I find that [name_m]Wolfhart[/name_m] feels more like a name, where [name_u]Wolf[/name_u], as much as I love it, feels like a word. And for some combos the flow is so much better with that added syllable. I have a one-syllable last name so it kind of feels better to have a longer middle.
I definitely wouldn’t use it as a first name, I agree it’s a bit much. But I think lots of people (especially on this site) go for more adventurous middles. I wonder whether this particular name is just not to people’s tastes on here. [name_u]Or[/name_u] is truly a bit too heavy and dark?
Idk I’m rambling! At least there’s no overwhelming reason to hate [name_m]Wolfhart[/name_m] that I was unaware of
