Is Zipporah usable?

I’m loving the name Zipporah lately. Is it usable or completely out there? I think her nn would be Birdie (Zipporah means bird in Hebrew), but I don’t know if it would be an actual nn or a sweet name that just family calls her.

Yes! Definitely useable I would love to see some more Zipporahs, it’s gorgeous and totally underused. I like Zip or [name_f]Zippy[/name_f] as nicknames, but yes, [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] also works.

I think [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] is definitely useable and I love [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] as the nn.

I like it. I did suggest it for my sister who gives all of her kids OT names, but she was not feeling it at all, and that made me sad. I do think a little [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] would go through some rough times, because it is unusual, but I think about a girl I grew up with named [name_f]Keturah[/name_f] or a student I had recently named [name_m]Zebulon[/name_m], and they both made it work for them (although I also know someone named [name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] who always seems a bit embarrassed about her name).

I think it’s very pretty, and [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] fits in with all the other old-fashioned nicknames coming back in style!

I definitely think so! I personally love the name :white_heart: I’ve come across a couple on ig that go by [name_f]Zippy[/name_f] & it’s made me love it even more!

I love it! Especially with nickname [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]! What a great way to use two gorgeous names. Totally usable, and so lovely.

I definitely think it’s usable! It’s definitely out there but the nicknames help a lot!

That said, I don’t think Birdie would translate well to being used outside the home, unless it’s what she goes by full-time, more often than Zipporah. Zee, Zip, Zippy, Zora, Zira & Zizi feel more intuitive.

oh i love zipporah! i definitely think it’s usable, and i love your idea of the nickname birdie! :white_heart:
