What do you prefer, [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] or [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]? - [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] by far! I love the meaing “laughter”. I think it’s handsome and distinguished. I don’t know why but [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] is one of my least favourite “[name_m]Eli[/name_m]” names. I just find the “jah” part harsh. I do love [name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_u]Elias[/name_u], [name_u]Elia[/name_u] and [name_u]Elisha[/name_u].
Which goes better with [name_f]Laura[/name_f]? - I think [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] is a better “fit” but I don’t think [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] is terrible with her name either.
What insight can you shed on using either of those names? - I don’t think you can go wrong with either one of them quite frankly.
Any tips on coming to agreement when we both prefer one and feel a bit meh towards the other? - [name_m]How[/name_m] did you agree on your daughter’s name [name_f]Laura[/name_f]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you remember how you came together at that time? Did you choose [name_f]Laura[/name_f] or did he? Maybe it was a family name? Perhaps you should take both [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] and [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] with you to the hospital and decide on the final name when you meet your son. He may “look” like one name more than the other one.
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m] or [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]? - I don’t think “J” names are ideal with a “k” ending name like [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]. [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] would be my favourite. If you don’t want to use [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] as a first name, what about choosing it for a mn? [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] would be lovely too.
Thanks [name_u]Mischa[/name_u]. We were lucky with [name_f]Laura[/name_f], it was his #1 name and my very close second, but he hated my favourite so it was an obvious choice. We have a lot of overlap in our girls name tastes.
I love, love, love the name [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] : ) It’s got more charm than [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], in a way. As for which one fits better with [name_f]Laura[/name_f], I think it’s about a tie; [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] probably in terms of style, but [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] because it’s not as similar (the ‘L’ is there, besides the same ‘A’ ending). [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] seems to me to exude a calm, cool type of person, while [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] seems more of the energetic sporting type, in terms of imagery. And definitely [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m]. I like it a lot : )
I like them both, but I think since you have narrowed it to two of his favorites–not yours–maybe you should have more say in which one…a bit?
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] is really nice…strong sounding/warm feeling. I really like it.
That said, I would pick [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] first to go with [name_f]Laura[/name_f]. But [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] is not terrible with [name_f]Laura[/name_f].
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] vs [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m]… I prefer [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], but they are close.
Thanks everyone. I’ve decided to imagine him as [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] for the rest of [name_u]December[/name_u] and see if I can love it enough to use it or not. If I keep teetering between two options it’s harder to know how I feel about them. [name_m]Will[/name_m] see how this method goes anyway
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]! [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]…not so much. [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] is sweet, though
I really like both [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] and [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]! I agree with some that [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] “goes” better with [name_f]Laura[/name_f], but I like the idea of [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] and [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] as brothers so much that I’m having troubles separating them to be paired with [name_f]Laura[/name_f] instead! I think as a FN, I like [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] more, but I agree that I think [name_f]Laura[/name_f] and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] work a little bit better. I would be really happy to meet a little [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] or [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Timothy[/name_m], so I’m afraid I’m no hope! (Pray you have twins! haha!) As a combo I like [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] more, so I think in general [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] gets my vote. I like him a lot.
Good luck!
I like [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]. There is something wise about it to me. Here are a few similar names:
