I really like the nn’s [name]Izzy[/name] or [name]Beau[/name] for a girl. But is [name]Isabeau[/name] a little too quirky? Not a big fan of the more common [name]Isabel[/name] or [name]Isabella[/name]. Thanks!
I already used [name]Isobel[/name] for a middle name and I love it, but I also had not heard of this variation before. And I find [name]Isabeau[/name] to be quite charming!! If you like it, I’d use it. 
I always think [name]Isa[/name] boo when i see this name…its not so bad…my daughters middle name is [name]Isabel[/name] too
I actually have a bit of a crush on this name. I love it as an [name]Isabel[/name] alternative and best of all is the potential nn “[name]Bo[/name]”. If it wasn’t wildly different than the other names in our sib set, it would be a top contender.
It shouts ‘masculine’ to me with the -beau ending, so I blame seven years of learning French from stopping me seeing this name as suitable for a little girl. To me, [name]Isabeau[/name] is a masculine form of [name]Isabelle[/name], with belle being the feminine form of beau in French. Plus I hear it as ‘is a bow’ and all I can think of is, well, a bow. I know it’s a girl’s name but I struggle seeing it as one.
I agree with essjay - beau is a distinctively masculine ending in French and it would not translate well, especially if she decided to travel to Europe.
[name]Isabeau[/name] rings very medieval to me. There is no reason why you can’t or shouldn’t use it, although you should perhaps know something about [name]Isabeau[/name] of Bavaria:

I don’t think [name]Isabeau[/name] sounds appealing at all. Very awkward, and I don’t like the word ‘beau’ at all.
My thoughts exactly. I also agree with the poster who said it looks like it would be pronounced “[name]Isa[/name] boo.” It might sound cute on an infant, but that infant is going to grow up and go to high school where I can just imagine the teasing. It also doesn’t sound like it would translate to adulthood very well.
To me it’s [name]Isabella[/name] wearing marabou all the way…sort of glam & crazy. Sort of Miss Havisham. At the same time it sounds like a great dog name
I love it. I’ve mentioned it to a few family members and got the nose wrinkle though. 
It feels so medieval and exotic to me.
I have adored [name]Isabeau[/name] ever since I was 11 and I read [name]Jane[/name] Yolen’s “[name]Dove[/name] [name]Isabeau[/name]”.
I seriously considered it for all my girls. With my most recent daughter I went with [name]Cora[/name] [name]Dove[/name] instead–I still love [name]Isabeau[/name]; I just had naming obligations greater than to a book.
But I still love it, and it’s a refreshing change from the umpteen [name]Isabel[/name]/Isabelles out there.
I can’t imagine pronounciation difficulties being any greater than for [name]Margot[/name]. I mean, [name]Margot[/name] has that silent T and all. [name]Isabeau[/name] is a good mix of approachable and exotic.
I think it’s a great alternative for the ever popular [name]Isabella[/name]. It shouldn’t be that hard to pronounce- like sachiko said, it’s no harder than [name]Margot[/name]. I like it, but I don’t think I would ever use it.

I’ve seen [name]Isabeau[/name] used as suggestions before. It is not “out there” at all. It has a familiar look and sound. Most use this name in the middle perhaps not thinking its common enough or because of the said travel issues. I kind of like the name. Not my personal style but I would be happy to see it on someone’s little girl here in the U.S.
