I recently discovered the name [name_f]Isabelline[/name_f], and want to know what you all think of it.
It’s one of those names where I said “wow” out loud, because it was so beautiful. It’s a really nice fresh change from [name_f]Bella[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabel[/name_f] too.
I can already muster up some nicknames: [name_u]Izzy[/name_u]-Sabi-[name_f]Belle[/name_f]-[name_f]Eline[/name_f]-[name_f]Elle[/name_f]-[name_f]Lina[/name_f]-[name_f]Leelee[/name_f]
It kinda reminds me of Maybelline makeup, but it’s not a bad association I guess.
I don’t mind it but it sounds like a mouthful. Personally I’d probably go [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabetta[/name_f] over [name_f]Isabelline[/name_f].
It’s very pretty! Still a little too close to [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] for my liking (like a previous poster I prefer [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabetta[/name_f]) but this is definitely an appealing option if you’re a belle/bella fan!
I find it too clunky and frilly for my taste and I don’t find it flows very well, if I’m pronouncing it correctly ([name_f]Isabel[/name_f]-een). I’m not really sure where to put the emphasis. I prefer just [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], though I do appreciate the extra nicknames [name_f]Isabelline[/name_f] offers.
I know this is a weird association, but when I hear [name_f]Isabelline[/name_f] I think “Is a baleine ([name_m]French[/name_m] for whale)”… It’s not like the pronunciation is even the same, I just can’t shake it. Other than that I think it’s pretty.
[name_f]Isabelline[/name_f] brings to mind names like [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Gwendoline[/name_f] or [name_f]Thomasine[/name_f], so it has a bit of a British upper-class type feel to it to me, which is not at all a bad thing, just perhaps a little frilly and cumbersome. I don’t mind [name_f]Isabelline[/name_f], though I do think I’d prefer it in the middle.
It doesn’t do it for me. I do love some ‘ine’ names though - [name_f]Albertine[/name_f] and Ambrosine - which feel more feisty and less frilly than [name_f]Isabelline[/name_f].
Personally, I prefer [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabella[/name_f], but I do see the appeal of [name_f]Isabelline[/name_f]'s “different, but familiar” feel. And I love all of the nickname opportunities!
