Isabetta

[name_m]How[/name_m] is everyone feeling about [name_f]Isabetta[/name_f]?

I don’t know. I feel like if someone didn’t want to name their child [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] why do that? Does that make any sense?

[name_u]Love[/name_u] you names in your signature by the way!!

I feel neutral. I don’t love it, but it’s pretty.

I love it! So much prettier than [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] which is overused in my opinion. Gorgeous!

[name_f]Isabetta[/name_f] seems like 2 names smushed together. It reminds me of [name_f]Elizabetta[/name_f] or [name_f]Elizabella[/name_f], just a little too much for me.

I much prefer:
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Isobel[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]

[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] is so over used, yet I feel like every time I meet an [name_f]Isabetta[/name_f] I would naturally call her [name_f]Isabella[/name_f].

I think its pretty!

To me it sounds like it’s missing it’s first syllable, [name_f]El[/name_f], making the name [name_f]Elisabetta[/name_f]. [name_f]Isabetta[/name_f] feels like something a small child would make out of [name_f]Elisabetta[/name_f] because the name is so long.
It also feels a bit like a “[name_f]Renesmee[/name_f]” name, one parent wants to honour [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], the other [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], so they decided to put them together.

I think it’s very pretty, but it’s not one of my favourites. It has that “just slightly different” feel of a lot of technically-unusual-but-rising names ([name_f]Amelie[/name_f], [name_f]Liliana[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_f]Elora[/name_f]…) - kind of like the parents really loved [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], but wanted something more unusual.

Nothing wrong with that of course, but if you’re going to go with a very unusual name, I think it makes more sense to choose one which is further in sound from a very popular name or group of names. For one thing, it’s more interesting, and for another it makes it less likely that your “unusual” name will be constantly misheard for its more popular soundalike.

So, theoretically: yes, I like the sound of it. But in practice I find it a bit “safe” and a bit prone to confusion.

Good responses so far (and thanks for the compliment @theirishsaint) - I agree it seems silly, and in my mind so does [name_f]Elisabetta[/name_f]… I prefer just [name_f]Etta[/name_f] myself.

I personally dislike ette/etta names, though [name_f]Isabetta[/name_f] isnt a bad name. I do see it been confused with [name_f]Isabella[/name_f].

Same as this. I still like it, though—I can’t seem to help but like every single Is- name.

I like it but prefer isodora

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it. It sounds exotic

I actually really like it.

Not a huge fan personally but I think it’s a great alternative to the popular [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
