[name]Isannah[/name] was in the book “[name]Johnny[/name] Tremain”. She was a little girl, who grew to be spoiled because she was favored by a wealthy lady. I love the name but I’ve never heard of it away from that book. I love it’s uniqueness, and it sounds exotic.
Is it Iss-anna? EYE-zanna? Ee-sanna?
I names are a big draw for me, as are antiquated names, but I have only ever read this one, not heard it.
[name]Isannah[/name]… hmm… I’m not sure how I feel about this name, but it looks pretty and I like the sound of it.
Pretty name!

@judyariel - I like [name]Isannah[/name] [name]Pearl[/name], [name]Isannah[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Isannah[/name] [name]Blythe[/name].
I’d love to hear more opinions!
Like gigigibbons, my association with [name]Isannah[/name] comes from “[name]Johnny[/name] Tremain.” The character is a little pathetic, in the end, but I think the name is beautiful.
I plugged it into Forvo to check the pronunciation, and Forvo failed me! I suppose that tells you something about how rare the name is. Here’s a fascination post by [name]Abby[/name] at Appellation Mountain: http://appellationmountain.net/2008/10/19/name-of-the-day-isannah/, including the information that [name]Isannah[/name] was [name]Paul[/name] Revere’s 8th child, who only lived a year :(, and that the pronunciation is uncertain.
Best wishes! I think [name]Isannah[/name] is a lovely choice.
I quite like it. I had forgotten what the [name]Johnny[/name] Tremain character was like, but I loved the book in high school (was practically obsessed about it, lol), so I instantly liked it. It always seems like a smoosh of [name]Isabelle[/name] and [name]Hannah[/name], both of which are favorites of mine. I probably wouldn’t use it, but I do like it. [name]Isannah[/name] [name]Sofie[/name] was my first idea for a combo.
I’ve not heard it until now, but I think it is very pretty and unique(in a good way) I like it’s strong historical background. I’m not sure how I like it pronounced. While I think I-sawna(short I sound is in [name]Quinn[/name]) is a pretty sound ( I think of the word sauna.) I 'm not sure I like the z sound because then it reminds me of [name]Susannah[/name], which is cute but not my style.)
@auroradawn - Thanks for the link to that article!
@libbyj06 - I pronounce it the way you do to, with the I like in [name]Quinn[/name] and the word sauna
