Isannah

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all!

I just came across the name [name_f]Isannah[/name_f] and I wanted to hear your thoughts on it! It has some historical [name_u]Boston[/name_u] roots which is around where we live. I have a [name_u]William[/name_u] [name_m]Brian[/name_m], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Fiadh[/name_f], and [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f]. [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is our angel baby girl :white_heart:

[name_f]My[/name_f] kids are typically [name_u]Will[/name_u], [name_u]Sam[/name_u] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] (for Giselle)

For a future boy we love [name_m]Luke[/name_m].

I’m not TTC yet but have been looking at girl names. [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], Ismerie/Ismary, [name_f]Marsali[/name_f], and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] have all been on my short list for girls. Middles considered are [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], and Fiona/Fiora

I’m interested in thoughts on [name_f]Isannah[/name_f] possibly nickname [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] or [name_f]Annie[/name_f]? Would you pronounce it eye-san-ah? [name_u]Or[/name_u] ee-sawn-ah?

[name_f]Isannah[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_f]Isannah[/name_f] [name_f]Flora[/name_f]

Yes I do see [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] as a bit frozen but we love [name_f]Disney[/name_f] so I may be fine with that LOL

I really like [name_f]Isannah[/name_f] and I think it works well with your children’s names! I also love both [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] as nicknames.

Personally I have always assumed [name_f]Isannah[/name_f] was pronounced either ih-sawn-ah or ih-san-ah, so I would probably default to one of those.

I really like [name_f]Isannah[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f], I do think it’s quite similar to your angel baby [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] but I think that could be a sweet connection if you like it. I also really like [name_f]Isannah[/name_f] [name_f]Fiora[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Isannah[/name_f], I pronounce it as ee-SAHN-ah. I think it goes well with your other kids! It’s a lot more uncommon than them but feels familiar. I also think [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] goes really well with them. I think [name_f]Isannah[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f] is adorable, it does sound very similar to [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] though, something to keep in mind but if it doesn’t bother you then it should be fine. Another middle I think could be pretty is [name_f]Isannah[/name_f] [name_f]Bellerose[/name_f], though it might be to extravagant for you taste I thought I’d throw it out there. I prefer [name_f]Annie[/name_f] as a nn

I’d pronounce Iz-sauna
I think it’s cute and a nice way to also honor angel baby :innocent:

seconding this - I go back and forth between the two

Isannah is intriguing and pretty - unexpected with your boys, but works with Giselle! It’s sweet how She’d have the Is- of Isabelle, like Giselle has the -elle?

Isannah Flora is lovely.

I have a niece named [name_f]Isannah[/name_f], prn. ee-sah-nuh. Its a lovely name! Personally I think [name_f]Isannah[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f] has a better flow, though [name_f]Isannah[/name_f] [name_f]Flora[/name_f] is lovely as well.

Thank you I find myself always trying to incorporate her into girl names! :white_heart:

Thank you for this! I accidentally gave the first three 5 letter middle names so I’ve been trying to keep that going. I love [name_f]Belle[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f], both girls have F middle names. There are surprisingly a lot of F girl names that are 5 letters

I’m really enjoying reading about this name. I’ve never heard of it before! [name_m]Just[/name_m] came across it today!

I love how you noticed this connection! [name_f]My[/name_f] boys are definitely more classic and I seem to go more extravagant for the girls. [name_f]Isannah[/name_f] [name_f]Flora[/name_f] is really growing on me

Your children have lovely names! :ribbon:

I pronounce [name_f]Isannah[/name_f] intuitively as Eye-Sanna - where annah is [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] without the H. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear it pronounced Ee-Zanna either (ie the quick Ee/Ih and very soft Z sounds of Isabelle). That’s really pretty to me. I wouldn’t say Ee-Sawna - and I really don’t like the honky “Sawn” sound in names.

I would go Isanna [name_f]Flora[/name_f] or even Isanna [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] which I think flows better (but [name_f]Flora[/name_f] might be more delightful with last name in play). I agree that [name_f]Belle[/name_f] might be too close to [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] (and maybe too heavy for your child to wear - beautiful to have connection but might be too much to have a full honour if that makes sense). I also like with F that the three girls have an F middle.

[name_m]Luke[/name_m] sounds great - wonder if [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] or [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] (Loo-Shen) worth considering given the syllable count of the rest?

[name_f]Isannah[/name_f] is one of my secret loves, although I haven’t been able to verify its meaning–if you have stumbled across some sources, @isabellesmama22 that would be great!

For you I think I like [name_f]Ismerie[/name_f] best though! Maybe [name_f]Ismerie[/name_f] [name_u]Fern[/name_u] or [name_f]Ismerie[/name_f] [name_m]Faolan[/name_m] to honor the “F” middles of the other girls?

[name_m]Just[/name_m] my thoughts!

[name_f]Ismerie[/name_f] / Ismérie is stunning, I agree! And would be so sweet with [name_u]Fern[/name_u]. :sparkles:

isannah is so pretty !! i especially like it with the nickname izzy <3 i would say iz-ANN-uh or iz-AHN-uh. she feels a little out-there compared to your other children’s names, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, especially if she’s the bookend baby.

she feels like this to me:
