[name]One[/name] of the names we are considering for our baby girl is [name]Isla[/name]. I love it but am concerned about its rising popularity. However I was surprised that it only went from #297 to #268 last year. I was expecting it to jump much higher. So I am wondering if it is actually going to become popular or if it is only popular among berries and the like? What do you think? We see it here so often but I don’t know if I would actually see it much when my daughter goes to school. Also wondering if anyone knows any real life Islas? Are their parents nameberry types? [name]TIA[/name].
I think it’s a lovely name, and like you say, although it seems to be on people’s radar, it’s definitely not mainstream (yet). Guess only time will tell, but I think you’re pretty safe for now and if you love it, keep it in the mix
I don’t think [name]Isla[/name] will be the new [name]Ava[/name] unless someone more celebrity like than [name]Autumn[/name] [name]Phillips[/name] names their child this. I think you’re pretty safe.
[name]Isla[/name] is lovely! I do think it’s headed straight for the top, though. I mean, if you look at the statistics, it jumped almost 750 spots in the past 4 years! That’s a huge leap, even if it didn’t jump a ton in the past year. It’s not hugely popular yet, but I think, like most names that get hugely popular, it’ll continue to grow, bit by bit, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see [name]Isla[/name] in the top 100 in the next 5-10 years.
If you use it now, though, I think you’ll be ahead of the curve enough for her name to still be special.
Its fairly popular where I am, so yes, I’d say its pretty mainstream. I really love it!
The only place I’ve heard [name]Isla[/name] is on naming forums. I’ve not actually run into or heard about any babies/children with the name.
I only know of one girl named ‘[name]Isla[/name]’ and she is from italy an spells it ‘’[name]Islay[/name]’’ I think its only popular among us nameberries, most people in real life probably don’t research as much as we! teehee
I had never heard of it until I joined Nameberry. It seems it’s much more popular in the UK (#22) than it is in the U.S. (#268).
