Isla Kerr. Does it sound ok?

We love the name Isla… but the issue is our last name is [name_u]Kerr[/name_u] (k-err). If you say it fast it kinda sounds like “I like her”. What do you guys think? Is it ok together? It’s the only name we can agree on.

Thanks!!

Something else to add : If that’s the only thing stopping you, please don’t let it! Isla Kerr has a really nice flow and the I like her thing is a beautiful plus.

I’ll be honest and say that I thought of “I like her” right away, before I read your post, but I don’t think it’s a deal breaker!

I do see it after reading your post, but don’t think it’s a reason to avoid the name

To be honest, before even clicking on this post, I made the connection straight away. I don’t think it should stop you from using the name, as her name won’t be said super fast very often.

Works just fine!

It sounds like “I like her” in my australian accent. but what about [name_u]Island[/name_u] [name_u]Kerr[/name_u]

I would probably not use but that might be because of the Aussie accent - and I’m also quite risk averse when it comes to giving a kid just an extra thing they could be teased or annoyed about - it’s only going to be funny a few times if that. You also don’t want it to be “I lick her”. ! I think it depends on your accent and if it’ll bug you.

heyyy fellow aussie! what do you think of [name_u]Island[/name_u] [name_u]Kerr[/name_u] or Lisla/Lila [name_u]Kerr[/name_u]?

Sounds a bit too close to “I like her” in my accent. I personally wouldn’t do it.

Isnt I like her a good thing? :joy: Im American and it didn’t occur to me anyway. Sounds good

I got the connection immediately but don’t think it’s that big a deal. If you say just about any name fast enough it starts to sound strange. I wouldn’t worry about it… can’t see it impacting someone’s life to any significant degree.

Honestly, the first thing I heard was “I lick her”… which definitely makes it unusable for me

As soon as I read it the first thing I heard was “I lick her” which seems a bit much for a name. What about Lyla instead?

[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_u]Kerr[/name_u] sounds fine!!! [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] name, [name_f]Isla[/name_f].

Sounds like “I lick her”.
